Last ‘Generation’? [v249]
NOVEMBER 2019
Millions of people believe that if we do not immediately address climate change, we will literally be in the early stages of mass extinction, and this will be the LAST GENERATION on this earth—with worldwide devastation happening in the next few decades.
A few months ago (on September 19, 2019), millions of people demonstrated across the world demanding urgent action to tackle global warming, as they united across timezones and cultures to take part in the biggest climate protest in history.
People protested from the Pacific Islands, through Australia, across Southeast Asia, Africa, into Europe, and also in the Americas. It was an explosion of the youth movement that was started by a Swedish school ‘striker’ Greta Thunberg just over a year previous to this event.
For the first time since the school ‘strikes’ for climate change that began in 2018, young people called on adults to join them—and they were heard. Trade unions representing hundreds of millions of people around the world mobilized in support, employees left their workplaces, doctors and nurses marched, and workers at firms like Amazon, Google, and Facebook also walked out to join the climate protest.
Demonstrations took place in an estimated 185 countries, but the overall message was unified. It was a demand for an urgent step—immediate action to cut emissions and stabilize the climate.

Inspired by the Swedish teenage climate activist, fellow climate-change warrior Lucas Barrero, said in his new book, “The World You Are Leaving Us,” “We are the first generation that will suffer, or rather, is already suffering the effects of the ecological and climate crisis. But we are the last generation that can do something to stop the disaster.”
Here in America, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), made headlines when she said (in January 2019) that she and other young Americans fear that “the world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.” She also remarked that the fight to mitigate the effects of climate change is her generation’s “World War II.”
Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) joined fellow Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) in predicting the climate change-induced doomsday, but he said that, “The world only has 10 years left.” (His climate change proposal, that seeks to hit net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, is estimated to cost about $5 trillion over the next ten years).
However, on the other ‘side’ of the argument, many prominent climate scientists refuted AOC’s claim, with NASA climate scientist Kate Marvel stating that climate change is not a “cliff we fall off” but rather “a slope we slide down.”
Additionally, the leader of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, Gavin Schmidt, called AOC’s 12-year deadline, “Bullshit.” He then added, “The thing to push back against is the implicit framing that there is some magic global mean temperature or total emissions that separate ‘fine’ from ‘catastrophic’. There just isn’t.”
Speaking directly to the climate-change ‘youth movement’, Australian politician and Chair of the “Environment and Energy Committee,” Craig Kelly believes that children are being “completely brainwashed” and he believes they are saying “the exact opposite of the truth” in relation to climate change. He says that, “The truth rebuts every single one of these alarmist’s slides that they carry on every single thing. They tell you from more fires to more deaths to polar bears drowning. When you look at the evidence and the peer-reviewed science, it tells the exact opposite of what’s being peddled.” He then went on in the 12-minute interview to cite many scientific facts proving that the “climate change” they are talking about is a hoax.

Now, like any issue that has passionate, like-minded people on both ‘sides’, there is likely to be some ‘exaggeration’. So, I put a representative ‘sample’ of information on both in the “Resources” and “Articles” sections below for you to consider for yourself.
HOWEVER, the thing is, I AGREE with Greta Thunberg, Lucas Barrero, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Beto O’Rourke that the WORLD WILL END in the next ‘few’ decades, and that WE ARE THE “LAST GENERATION”—BUT NOT FOR THE REASON, “climate change,” that they claim will be the ‘culprit’.
I believe what the Bible says is going to happen: Believers in Jesus will be ‘raptured’ before a seven-year period of time called the “Tribulation,” which Jesus will come back to earth at the end of it to terminate the unimaginable, horrendous war called “Armageddon.” (Because the Bible says that, if Jesus didn’t return, “no human being would be saved” – Matthew 24:22). [ A 1,000-year “Millennium” will follow the Tribulation, after which God will then totally ‘remake’ the entire universe and come to live with His ‘children’ in the “New Jerusalem” on the “New Earth” for eternity! ].

Now, based on biblical prophecy and the ‘convergence’ of them that are happening today, I DO BELIEVE that this is the “LAST GENERATION” of truly born-again Christians that will finally see the first ‘event’ in the end times ‘sequence’ of events—the “Rapture” of the Church!
THE LAST GENERATION
Jesus Himself used this terminology in His famous “Olivet Discourse” regarding the signs of the “end of the age”: “Even so when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened” [ Matthew 24: 33-34 ].
There is a “generation” that will see the fulfillment of all the things that Jesus spoke of. A generation unlike any other—for it will be this generation that sees (in its completion) the Second Coming of Jesus. Jesus Himself also gives us important clues as to when it might be and the ‘time frame’ in which to look for it—so that when it starts to happen, we will recognize it. Jesus never intended for us to be clueless or ‘in the dark’ about something so important as the time of His return.
It just so happens that there are many of these ‘things’ that are casting their ‘shadow’ now, and we see them beginning to ‘CONVERGE’—all happening at the same time at a feverish pace—which the Bible says will ‘play out’ when Jesus will come back for His Church (the Rapture).
These things are unfolding with unprecedented accuracy. So, when you study their fulfillment, you see that it would be absolutely impossible to have them happen simply by chance.
The following are the top things that most prophecy teachers agree upon are the reasons that they think this is the LAST ‘GENERATION’ before the Christians are raptured.

Peace And Security
The Bible says that Jesus will come like a “thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:2). While people are saying there is peace and security, sudden destruction will come upon them, and they will not escape!
The Apostle Paul used an analogy of a woman prevailing in labor. When the birth pains begin, there’s no stopping what is going to happen, and there’s no way of going back—it’s just a matter of time before that baby comes out! As an illustration, there’s no way the doctor and the nurses are going to say, “Hey it’s time for our lunch break, so we’re going to stop this birthing process and we’ll resume it at a more convenient time for us after lunch. Ridiculous! It’s the same for stopping Jesus coming back for His people. That’s not going to happen!
On the whole—except for the Middle East—it is ‘reasonably’ peaceful around the world.
Business As Usual
Jesus’ return is going to come in a ‘season’ that you could call “business as usual” around the world. People will be enjoying life, prospering, and without a ‘care in the world’. However, people are going to be caught off guard. Many people will not be giving even one thought to where they will spend eternity.
This is pretty much happening today.
Mocking And Scoffing
Many people say that all this “end times” talk—that Jesus is coming back—has been purported in the past, and every time it has been wrong.
The Bible says that in the last days, “there shall come deceitful scoffers, walking after their own lusts, saying “Where is the promise of His coming?” (2 Peter 3:4a). This mocking and scoffing will even come from fellow Christians (the ones that don’t know their Bible).
This is definitely happening today!
The Rise Of Wickedness/Plummeting Morality
The Bible says that in the last days mankind’s character will decline tremendously and be “given over to a depraved mind” (Romans 1:28)—and will get more and more evil as the time gets close (Abortion; Homosexuality; Transgenderism). Fifty years ago no one would have even imagined that a transgender man would demand that he be allowed in a women’s bathroom just because he “identifies” as a woman—and that the culture would ‘fight’ for his right to do so!
The leading disciplinary problems in public schools in the 1940s was talking, chewing gum, making noise, running in the hallways, getting out of place in line, and not putting paper in wastebaskets. In the 1990s it was drug abuse, alcohol abuse, pregnancy, suicide, rape, robbery, and assault! It sure appears to me that there has been a ‘massive’ rise in wickedness—and that was 20 years ago! Sadly, it’s getting so bad and commonplace that we are no longer even shocked by any of this anymore—it’s considered to be the ‘norm’! (Just what the Bible says it will be in the last days).
The culture will also “be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God on self” [ 2 Timothy 3:2-4 ]. The Bible says that their behaviors will be similar to what was happening “in the days of Noah” (which is why God flooded the earth to destroy all of it). That definitely describes today’s culture!
Strong Delusion
Senator John Kerry once said that “climate change is more dangerous than terrorism.” Seriously?! The experts I cited above strongly disagree with his pronouncement).
In Canada, they have passed a law that the government can seize children from a Christian home, and in America, there’s a new law now that says “authorities” can take children away from parents if they don’t accept the gender identity their children have chosen for themselves. What? Are you kidding me?!
These are just a few of the ‘delusions’ the world experiences when they turn from and abandon God. So, He then “turns them over to a reprobate mind” and people think that up is down, black is white, good is evil, and evil is good. Sounds like today’s world, eh?
Surge In Technology
With all financial transactions becoming ‘digital’ (Chase Bank is no longer is accepting cash deposits) and the money supply now being totally ‘controlled’, (almost all business transactions on the entire planet have become Internet-based), this is just one ‘step’ away from global financial control—and whoever controls the Internet directly or indirectly controls the world’s economy. (The United States recently decided to give up control of the Internet to a private organization, “ICANN,” which most believe will be influenced by overseeing authorities like the United Nations. A huge loss to the free world). [ This could be ‘setting the stage’ for a one-world government ].
Who would have thought that just 10-15 years ago what a USA Today newspaper article said, “That eventually everyone will be ‘chipped,’” which will contain all of that person’s personal information, and will be used to purchase goods. [ Note: I believe that this will be the technology that will be used for the “Mark of the Beast” during the Tribulation period—maybe in conjunction with a ‘tattoo’ on the hand. Reminder: Taking the ‘Mark’ damns a person’s soul to Hell for eternity! ].
[ FYI: This will appear in the middle of the Tribulation period, so if you are a ‘believer’, you won’t ever see this ].
Speaking about the latest drone technology, for me, it’s really scary to see how sophisticated they have become, and how artificial intelligence is taking them to a whole new level! “Swarm” technology allows them to ‘interact’ with each other. So, armed with weapons, they could be used as a ‘programmed’ attack force, or if they go ‘rogue’, they could attack who ‘they’ want to eliminate!
Speaking about how powerful and accepted A.I. is becoming, there is a robot, “Sophia,” that one can not only have a conversation with, but it just might be the most interesting conversation one would ever have (since ‘she’ is connected to the Internet, and has access to pretty much all of mankind’s collected knowledge). Sophia is also being ‘personalized’ now—being the ‘feature’ on the cover of a variety of fashion magazines. So, now ‘she’ is a model. Scary!
All this is definitely happening very quickly right now. The ‘standard’ Smartphone is 100,000 times more powerful than the computer that landed the Lunar Lander on the moon in 1969—just 50 years ago!!! (and you have it in your ‘pocket’!). An INSANE INCREASE in capabilities!
Building The Third Temple
Currently “The Temple Institute” is laying the ‘groundwork’ for building a third Temple in Jerusalem. They have already created all of the vestments and the ritual items required for use in a Temple, and are lobbying for more Jewish access to the Temple Mount. The priest has already been selected!
The Sanhedrin has even minted a coin with images of President Trump and Cyrus to promote the rebuilding of the Temple (since they think Trump will actually be the one to build the Temple!)
The third Temple is important because the Bible says that the Antichrist will ‘desolate’ it halfway through the Tribulation, and that’s when ‘all hell breaks loose’!
[ Note: The ‘believer’ will never see this Temple, since they will have been raptured. However, one day they will see the ‘final’ “Temple” during the Millennium ].
Middle East ‘Activity’
The Bible tells us that “Jerusalem will be a burdensome stone for all people” (Zechariah 12:3a) and that “all the people of the earth will be gathered together against it” (Zechariah 12:3c). That has been increasingly true in the past 70 years or so.
First off, Iran wants to destroy Israel because they believe the final Mahdi will come and institute Islamic rule of the world. Secondly, Turkey’s President Erdogan is wanting the Ottoman Empire to be reborn again to rule once more as it did in the past. Thirdly, Russia’s Putin thinks he’s the new ‘Tsar’ and wants the glory days of the old Soviet Union to return and for him be THE world leader. Not to be ‘outdone’, sitting on the ‘sidelines’ is President Xi, who also has the same type of ego the others do, and also thinks he can be the world’s next leader.
All things considered, it looks like the ‘stage’ is being set for an invasion of Israel, that just so happened to be prophesied some 3,500 years ago (Ezekiel 38 and 39).
Longing For A Global Leader
The world is looking for a leader who can stop the chaos and create worldwide peace—and the Bible says that there will be one, called the Antichrist. He will, at the beginning of the Tribulation, ‘miraculously’ do so, though it’s just a ‘set up’—he will, under the Devil’s influence, create a ‘hell on earth’.
One-world Religion
Religion will flourish during the first half of the Tribulation with the false religious system called “Babylon,” the “Great Harlot.”
The Bible tells us that the Harlot will be an ‘apostate’ ecumenical church that will embrace all world religions (except for ‘biblical’ Christianity). [ Something Pope Francis has a strong focus on doing today, being involved in an ‘alliance’ with Turkey to control Jerusalem ].
In the times we live in now, ‘humanism’ has, more and more, been taking over the role that religion used to play. Mankind is more and more self-reliant, being governed by itself, rather than being ‘led’ by God.
Today, the thinking of most people is that of a ‘secular’ mindset, reasoning that ‘organized’ religion is the primary problem in the world—being the cause of all the trouble between people and the cause of all the wars.
It’s not difficult to imagine then that the Antichrist and False Prophet will ‘preach’ that the world needs just one religion—especially to ‘throw off the shackles’ of religions like Christianity. The world needs to become ‘liberated’ from its ‘repressive’ requirements. It’s not difficult for me to imagine, because of the mindset today, that there would be a massive following for a person who proposes to do this then (This message can be experienced today in the “seeker-sensitive” and “prosperity” churches—saying what “itching ears” want to hear).
I believe Rome is this “Mystery Babylon” and that the Pope will be the “False Prophet” (Antichrist’s ‘righthand man’ during the Tribulation). [ It so happens that the current Pope, Francis, is very ‘ecumenical’ ].
I’m sad to say that the Catholic Church is also “drunk with the blood of the saints” (Revelation 17:6), having martyred many, many Christians and Jews throughout history. I think we have to keep our eyes on Rome. It might not be Pope Francis, since he’s getting old, so he may have to step down and allow someone else to assume the ‘position’.
Globalism
The rush to globalism is the rush to ‘one-worldism’—the longing for a world without ‘borders’.
The primary appeal of a one-world government will be to solve the environmental ‘problems’—primarily pollution and “climate change”—because these issues know no borders and a single ‘point of contact’ will be the best way to solve these ‘world-ending’ issues.
Explosion Of The Cults/Occult
Counterfeit Christianity is everywhere with cults and false christs (Matthew 24:24), psychic phenomena, spiritism, satan worship, witchcraft, nature worship, and the New Age movement (1 Timothy 4:1).
The word “cult” is referencing the distorted teachings that redefine the biblical, historical Person of Jesus Christ, and the essential doctrines of the orthodox Christian faith. Confusion, delusion, and spiritual abuse then follow.
The Apostle Paul penned some very sobering words about this: “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no Gospel at all. Evidently, some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!” [ Galatians 1:6-9 ]. This is happening increasingly in our day.
Counterfeit Christianity
Beyond cults—which many can see is aberrant—there is much ‘deception’ in the Church today.
I am overwhelmed to see of some of the teachings that are now ‘mainstream’ in the Church that has happened in just the past few decades. There’s post-modernism, the Social Gospel, and the “seeker-sensitive” churches that water everything down and don’t preach the Gospel (Joel Osteen’s type of church). There’s also the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) with it’s so-called “prophets for profit.”
There’s also the very ‘dangerous and un-biblical “replacement theology” that says the Church has ‘replaced’ Israel as God’s focus. Sadly, the Evangelical Church is moving away from supporting Israel. Totally unbiblical!—primarily because most Christians don’t know prophecy!
Then there’s “Christian Palestinianism” that blames Israel for the conflict with the Arabs, and that Israel is living in the Palestinian’s land. A total lie! (There are no “Palestinian” people mentioned in the Bible, and Jerusalem has been the capital of only one country throughout history—Israel!)
There’s also a rush into mysticism with what is being called “contemplative prayer,” that tells Christians to be like Buddhists, and what is called “Christ Alignment”—a form of Christianized tarot cards—that tells the ‘future’ of a Christian. All of this is repackaged new-age witchcraft, which is specifically condemned in Scripture (Deuteronomy 18:10-11).
All this—and MORE—is happening at a ‘breakneck’ pace!
Increase In Apostasy
The Bible predicts that in the last days, people will be “lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power” (2 Timothy 3:4b-5a). Today many churches deny the eternal truths of Scripture and power of the Holy Spirit, replacing them with ungodly, temporal and “politically correct” values (1 Timothy 4:1-3; 2 Timothy 4:3-4). Thankfully, there will be, in the last days, an outpouring of God’s Spirit that causes hundreds of millions worldwide to come to true faith in Christ in record numbers (Matthew 24:14), but MANY ‘so-called’ Christians will be destined for Hell!
Escalating ‘Birth Pangs’
The earth is exhibiting catastrophic “birth pangs”—natural disasters worldwide are happening with greater frequency and greater intensity.
For example, global natural disasters in the 1950s were about 25-30 per year, in the 1960’s it was about 50-75 per year, and now, in the first decade of the 2000s, it was 400-500 per year. However, in the 2010’s it’s been 800-850 per year and is forecast to increase even more! (Droughts, famines, plagues, and pestilences have also been increasing dramatically).
I really believe the world is virtually ‘dilated’ at a “10,” and it’s just a matter of time before the earth gives ‘birth’ to unimaginable disasters.
Terrorism
One of the reasons for continued terrorism in the Middle East is that hatred is being passed on to the next generation. Children are going to “summer camp” in territories under the control of the Palestinian Authority and are taught how to take a serrated edged knife and cut the head off of a teddy bear (as though it’s a Jew!). Then they’re taught how to put on suicide vests, and are told that their “greatest reward is to give their lives for the cause of Allah.” They are raising terrorists in humongous numbers (about 150,000 kids every summer), and their ‘mantra’ is that “Israel’s days are numbered.” They are told that in order for there to be world peace, Israel must be destroyed!
Sadly, Middle Eastern terrorism is here to stay and will continue to grow, since large sums of money are given to the families whose family members perpetrate acts of terrorism. A Muslim woman commented that she wishes that she had more sons to offer to the ‘cause’ of Allah as martyrs! A ‘sad’ state of affairs!
In addition to the Middle East, there are other ‘rogue’ nations, like North Korea, that possess nuclear weapons and are a real threat to all the nations of the earth.
Here in the U.S., the ‘official’ start of the war on terrorism began on September 11, 2001, and we have been engaged in the most protracted ‘war’ we have ever been in. It was very sad that 3,000 died in those “911” attacks, but it’s even more horrific than abortion takes 20,000 TIMES (60,000) more humans per day! Ruth Graham (wife of Billy Graham) remarked about the downward spiral of America’s moral standards saying, “If God doesn’t punish America, He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.”
Religious Persecution
This is primarily an unprecedented rise in the persecution of Jews and Christians worldwide.
There have been more Christian martyrs in the 20th century than all other centuries combined! Anti-semitism is also escalating worldwide. New York students were given homework to give reasons why they should exterminate Jews! Daily, in Europe, Jews are being ‘harassed’ to an extent that they need police protection, so they’re immigrating back to Israel [ FYI: Returning to the Land is another end times prophecy ].
Another example of persecution includes many governments not allowing people to even plant food for themselves, and they are starving to death. Criminal!
The Apostle Paul warned Christians about persecution back in the first century, but said they should not be perplexed: “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh” [ 2 Corinthians 4:7-11 ].
Rebirth Of Israel
The rebirth of Israel as a ‘State’ is the ‘CENTRAL’ WORLD EVENT that is prophesied to lead to the last ‘generation’ and the greatest war of all time.
To understand how monumental this truly is, this has NEVER OCCURRED in the history of mankind! We have never seen a people who have lost their land, were dispersed, and then integrated into cultures all over the world, to come back into their original land and reinstitute their language and culture (especially after over 1,900 years!).
The thing is, Isaiah the prophet ‘predicted’ it: “In that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea He will raise a signal for the nations and will assemble the banished of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth” [ Isaiah 11:11-12 ].
Then, Jesus ‘promised’ it: “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” [ Matthew 24:32-35 ].
Israel’s rebirth is illustrated as “dry bones” that came back together (The prophet Ezekiel ‘sees’ a graveyard vision of the national restoration, regeneration, and return of the “whole house of Israel” – verses 1-14).
Ezekiel then writes, “I will bring you from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered—with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath” [ Ezekiel 20:34 ]. These ‘dry bones’ are a dramatic image of the Jewish nation before they returned to their land, and there is an indication that there would be a primary ‘re-organization’ of them, and then a gradual ‘implementation’ over time (people returning to the Land).
Israel, a nation that had not really existed as a ‘unique’ nation for nearly 2,500 years, was declared a new sovereign State by an act of the United Nations on May 14, 1948. The nation was ‘reborn’ in a day, just as Isaiah predicted: “Who has ever heard of such a thing? Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children” [ Isaiah 66:8 ].
The Jewish people are now back in their land. That is THE GAME-CHANGER EVENT that ‘screams’ to me that we are the ‘LAST’ GENERATION! This is not just the miracle of the 20th century, but of ALL TIME!
Finally, the astonishing victory of Israel in the 1967 War is significant in fulfilling this ‘rebirth’, since Israel took over jurisdiction of the entire city of Jerusalem then (it had been previously divided between them and Transjordan before the war). This was also prophesied to happen!
Convergence
Something that’s even more astounding is the ‘CONVERGENCE’ of all of these things—happening all at one time, today!
The convergence of the many things that have taken place in the last 20 years is stunning—and some of these things, particularly specific technologies, have only been even ‘possible’ until just recently. Al this is STATISTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE!
All these ‘things’ (and others) are taking place right in front of our eyes, and are SURE INDICATIONS that we are in the LAST of the last days! Prophecy ‘watcher’ Jan Markell is ‘know for’ saying that, “The world is not falling to pieces, rather, the pieces are all falling into place.”
PARABLE OF THE FIG TREE
When Jesus spoke of the “fig tree” in Matthew 24:32-35, He wasn’t speaking about a ‘literal’ fig tree, He was speaking metaphorically—as a ‘symbol’ of national Israel (We also find this in Hosea 9:10 and Jeremiah 24:5). Jesus is saying here that when you see the fig tree “budding”—coming back to life—know that My return is near.
“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away” [ Matthew 24:32-35 ].
Israel IS back in the Land that God originally gave them, so Jesus’ return is very near!
HOW LONG IS A “GENERATION”?
There are three possible interpretations of what Jesus meant about being the “last generation,” based on a few translations of the Greek word “genea.”
The first is that it applied to the generation alive that Jesus was speaking to. However, the context was His Second Coming and the ‘end of the age’—the rise of the Antichrist, the desolation of the Holy Place, the darkening of the sun, and the War of Armageddon—none of which happen during the lifespan of people alive in Jesus’ day. Obviously then, Jesus meant something different when He spoke of “this generation.”
Secondly, generation can also mean “race.” So, some interpret it to mean that the Jewish race would not become extinct before Jesus returns. Again, this certainly doesn’t qualify as much of a sign to say that as long as there are Jewish people living on earth Jesus could come back. In addition to that, there is another Greek word that is used for “race” that could have been used if that was the intent here.
So, the third, and most logical interpretation, is that the generation being born when the fulfillment of the end times signs begins, would still be alive at Jesus’ return. Notice it doesn’t say that no subsequent generations would be born, nor does it say that all the signs would be fulfilled before the birth of the next generation. It just says the signs will be fulfilled within the lifetimes of those who are living at the time the first sign appears.
The Amplified version of the Bible gives some clarity to all this: “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, this generation [ the people living when these signs and events begin ] will not pass away until all these things take place.” So, the “generation” that sees the fig tree ‘budding’, will see everything connected with the “end time” events. This means that the people on earth when the ‘birth pangs’ begin will not all die until all that has been prophesied has been fulfilled, and Jesus returns to the earth (His “Second Coming”). Those who are on the earth then will have only a short time left. [ Reminder: Remember, too, that there are NO specific ‘signs’ with regard to the Rapture of the Church—it can take place at ANY moment! (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) ].
In different places in the Bible, it identifies “generational” timespans as 40, 70, 80, 100, and 120 years. The following is an analysis of each.
40 YEARS
When the Israelites refused to go into the Promised Land for fear of the Amorites the Lord condemned all the adults except for Caleb and Joshua to death. He said they’d wander in the desert one year for every day the 12 spies were in the land and during that time all the adults age 20 and over would die. The spies were in the land for 40 days so the term of punishment was set at 40 years. During that 40-year period, the Israelites conducted an average of 85 funerals each day to remind them of their failure to obey, until all the adults had died (Numbers 14). This event led some to speculate that the length of a generation is 40 years when in fact the Lord had really limited the life span of those adult Israelites to coincide with the term of the punishment.
Thus, that generation was more than 40 years old since it is the adults who are being spoken about. Besides, nowhere in human history has a generation been said to be only 40 years.
70-80 YEARS
Several hundred years after the Flood, Moses declared, “For we have been consumed by Your anger And by Your wrath, we have been dismayed. You have placed our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your presence. For all our days have declined in Your fury; We have finished our years like a sigh. As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years, Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; For soon it is gone and we fly away. Who understands the power of Your anger And Your fury, according to the fear that is due You?” [ Psalm 90:7-12 ]. According to this passage, could a generation be 70 or 80 years?
Well, considering the context, the psalmist’s first line in this passage is speaking on behalf of the nation of Israel (i.e., “we”). The people of Israel were under God’s judgment for their disobedience under the Old Covenant. God was “consuming” Israel in His fury and anger against them. Israel endured exile, bondage, drought, famine, and other consequences for their apostasy to the Covenant.
Then, in verse eight, the Psalmist says Israel’s sins were “before” God. Though Israel thought they were sinning in secret, the Psalmist says their secret sins were placed in the light of God’s presence. In other words, they weren’t so secret after all. Because of Israel’s unrepentant sins, God consumed His people in fury through judgments that weakened them and brought them to early death.
In verse 10, the psalmist says the life of a person is 70 or maybe 80 years, yet the pride of our years is merely labor and sorrow. No matter how long we may live, soon we are gone in the end.
Therefore in this context, it is clear that the psalmist is not specifying an exact length of life for all human beings. Rather, he’s remarking, in a general way, that most people live between 70-80 years. Some may live fewer years and some may live longer. Nevertheless, 70-80 years is generally the length of life for mankind, and in eternal terms, it’s a very short time indeed. Therefore, we must live with an appreciation for the eternal consequences of how we live.
One thing is clear, the psalmist asks God to teach His people to NUMBER THEIR DAYS, which means to appreciate the fragile and fleeting nature of life on earth. (Which is something ALL believers should do!) By gaining a healthy appreciation for our mortality, God’s people should live with wisdom for whatever time God gives us.
So, Psalm 90:10 (nor Genesis 6:3) are interpreted as being God-ordained age limits for humanity. Genesis 6:3 is a prediction of the timetable for the Flood, and Psalm 90:10 is simply stating that as a general rule, people live 70-80 years (which just so happens to be still the ‘normal’ lifespan today).
100 YEARS
There is a passage in Genesis where God tells Abraham that his descendants would spend 400 years in Egypt as slaves before coming out with great wealth: “Then the Lord said to Abram, ‘Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years. But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward, they shall come out with great possessions. As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age. And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete’” [ Genesis 15:13-16 ].
This passage appears to equate 400 years with four generations, making a generation 100 years long, but this is not the case. The numbers 400 and four refer to two different things. True, the Israelites were in Egypt for about 400 years, but a careful study shows that after Moses led them out, the Israelites who finally crossed the Jordan with Joshua were the fourth generation from the one in which Moses was born.
120 YEARS
In Matthew 24, Jesus states that in the days before His coming, it will be “as in the days of Noah.” While the “days of Noah” lasted exactly 120 years (“My Spirit will not contend with man forever for he is mortal, his days will be a hundred and twenty years” – Genesis 6:3), it so happens that this is the exact number of years God gave mankind to repent before He sent the Flood.
This Genesis passage deals with God’s long-suffering and the length of time He was willing to allow people to repent, and the previous Psalm deals with finite humans who are in need of God’s mercy.
So, upon careful examination, we can conclude that these passages both give us important insight into the existence of human beings and the judgment that each human must face when their time on earth has concluded. Whether a human being lives to be 100 or 120, their time on earth is VERY BRIEF when seen from God’s perspective. “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” [ James 4:14 ].
The brevity of our life should cause us to EXAMINE OUR SPIRITUAL ‘CONDITION’ to see whether we are prepared to spend eternity in heaven with Jesus or eternal separation from Him in Hell.
“For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night. You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning: in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers” [ Psalm 90:4–6 ].
Now, I’m not trying to “date set,” but I’m just making a ‘case’ that sometime in the NOT-TO-DISTANT FUTURE the ‘Trumpet’ is going to sound and Jesus is coming back to rapture ALL BELIEVERS to Heaven!
So, it looks like there is not any ‘conclusive’ proof as to exactly how many years a “generation” is, but I think we can safely say it is between 70 and 120 years.
It also just so happens that a recent huge study has just been concluded, and most secular scientists associated with the study agree that, even with all the medical breakthroughs that could possibly happen, they surmise that humans are unlikely to live longer than 125 years old.
What a DAUNTING PROSPECT that there will be a ‘terminal’ generation, and even MORE UNNERVING is that I am proposing, because of all of the ‘signs’ I just discussed, that there just might be people that are living today that will be a PART OF THAT GENERATION!!!
THE ‘COUNTDOWN’ HAS STARTED
If this is the Final Generation, the important questions would be, when did it ‘START’ and when will it ‘END’? When did the ‘official’ beginning of the re-gathering take place?
Well, the “Final Generation” term refers to the ‘last’ generation that lives in the biblical “end times,” which for my purposes here, correlates to living within a 70-120 year timeframe before the Second Coming of Jesus. The Rapture will remove the believers from this ‘generation’, and unbelievers will be left behind. However, within the unbeliever ‘group’, some will become believers before the Tribulation Period—the ‘gap’ between the Rapture and the start of the Tribulation Period—so they will not be alive when the Tribulation starts.
The “Terminal Generation” then alludes to a ‘subset’ of the “Final Generation,” who are people that will experience the seven-year Tribulation Period. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word “terminal” as: “extremely or hopelessly severe, occurring at or constituting the end of a period.” The thing is, the Bible foretells of global events that will get so chaotic and catastrophic in the Tribulation that, “unless those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved; but for the elect’s sake, those days shall be shortened” [ Matthew 24:22 ]. This is only because God made an unconditional ‘covenant’ with Abraham that he would have decedents forever. So, God prevented the extinction of mankind because of His promise to Abraham. [ To me, the “Terminal Generation” will only know that they are IT when the Antichrist “desolates” the Jewish Temple, and then they can calculate that they have 3-1/2 years until Jesus comes back to establish His “Millennial Kingdom” on earth ].
So, a few would argue that it started with the foundation at the inaugural Congress of the Zionist Organization, held in Basel, Switzerland in 1897. Since from 1897 to 1967 is exactly 70 years (a ‘significant’ period of time biblically), then it is reasonable to assume that the “second phase” would also take 70 years (which would make the ‘end’ to be 2037).
I, however, (with many Bible scholars) advocate that the countdown ‘started’ on May 14, 1948, when Israel, once again, ‘became’ a nation. Many scholars connect this date with their interpretation of the Parable of the Fig Tree.
[ NOTE: Why wait to see if this is the Final Generation that concludes with the Terminal Generation? TREMBLE at the coming wrath of God, and with a poor and contrite ‘spirit’, CRY OUT to Him now to save you so you can ‘escape’ the ‘terminal’ generation! (2 Thessalonians 1:6-10) ].
So, it just might be that the end may come a bit sooner—at least seven years for the Tribulation (but probably more). Based on the assumption that a ‘generation’ isn’t more than 120 years, the Rapture ‘should’ occur before 2068 (However, I believe it will be MUCH EARLIER than that!)
Now, know that “no one knows the hour and the day” (Mathew 24:36), but the Bible has given us ‘clues’ as to “the times and the seasons” (1 Thessalonians 5:1) and that “the Lord shall come as a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:2). All this should be obvious to the discerning believer.

WRAP UP
There is NO DOUBT that the conditions and activities that the Bible prophesied to be prevalent in the “end times” are BEING ‘PLAYED OUT’ right now before our eyes! The similarities between the biblical prophecies and the headlines we are witnessing on our 24/7 newscasts are stunning!!!
There are two primary ‘elements’ that make up the last of the last days leading up to Jesus’ Second Coming. ISRAEL is the NUMBER ONE ‘INDICATOR’ of how near the time is when Jesus will come back for His ‘Bride’ (the Church). Closely behind this is the rapidly developing movement toward establishing a one-world government or global ‘NEW WORLD ORDER’ (which the Antichrist uses to ‘control’ the world)—and the “CLIMATE CHANGE” ‘agenda’ just might be the primary ‘issue’ that will be used to move the world in that direction.
The belief that we are rapidly destroying our earth has become a permanent element of a ‘universal’ worldview, and has been entrenched in the hearts and minds of our upcoming generations. Because they believe this is not a ‘localized’ emergency—and allowing each nation to determine its own course of action is inadequate—it has been ‘determined’ that it requires GLOBAL OVERSIGHT. However, to me, it is primarily an EMOTIONAL response, since the ‘SCIENCE’ DOES NOT SUPPORT any of these conclusions!
However, many believe wholeheartedly in this, and have ‘forced’ excessive regulations that are financially hurting many countries, and new energy projects are being denied all in the name of saving the world from primarily man-made carbon emissions. In addition to this, over 190 countries have given up part of their sovereignty to a governing treaty called the “Kyoto Protocol” (originally adopted in 1997).
[ Note: Even though I do agree that we all should be as ‘ecological’ as we can, in very clear language the Bible explains that man was given ‘dominion’ over the creatures and the authority to ‘subdue’ the earth by God—to be used responsibly—and that God will one day (after the Millennium) will dissolve the old universe and make it new by means of fire. ]
The prophet Zechariah said (in chapter 12) that God would make Jerusalem a “stumbling stone to the nations of the world,” and these days that is the single most debated topic in the world. Nations all over this globe are suggesting solutions to the Israeli/Palestinian problem—Jerusalem in particular—thinking that they have the right to force a decision about something that a sovereign nation and a sovereign people should make by themselves.
Then, with Russia, Iran, and Turkey gathering to the north of Israel (in Syria), it looks like a major part of the preparation for the fulfillment of a prophesied war against Israel (Ezekiel 38 and 39). Their forming alliance, in combination with the convergence of many other prophetic ‘signals’, is an EXISTENTIAL THREAT to Israel!
At this point, it’s kind of like that proverbial ‘rubber band’ that has been stretched too long and too far—and when it ‘SNAPS’ it will be sudden and disastrous!
You see, when you begin to put the ‘pieces’ of prophecy together, you begin to see that Jesus’ coming to rapture the Church is ON THE ‘DOORSTEP’! You can almost hear His ‘footsteps’!!!
Hopefully, in light of the evidence I presented, it becomes plain to you that the preservation, restoration, and the rebirth of Israel is a ‘MIRACLE’ of God and is undeniable evidence of the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy—that the ‘end’ of this world, as we know it, is coming soon—and that should be a TERRIFYING NOTION!

Theologian John Walvoord presented a great illustration regarding biblical signs, presenting what is revealed in Scripture, and how believers should be looking for the things that Jesus told the disciples when He was talking about the ‘end times’. Here is my condensation of what he said:
There is a big yellow school bus down the road, and it’s coming toward you. You can make out on the front of the bus that it says, “Tribulation Period.” It looks like it is speeding up as it is coming closer.
Jesus now says to you (the Church) before that bus gets to this corner, that He will pick you up in a red sports car—so just stand on the corner and wait. Be ready because you don’t know when I’m going to come, and it’s going to be really quick. when I do.
Now, we don’t see any red sports car coming, but when we look down the road we see that yellow bus getting much closer now. We now can identify the license plate, and it has as “666” on it. We also can make out the driver—Satan.
However, we were told not to worry about the yellow bus getting so close, and stop focusing on it! We are just supposed to be ready to be picked up by Jesus in the red car—just in time!
There is coming—and I think VERY SOON—one specific ‘tick’ of the “Doomsday Clock” that is going to finally make it to ‘midnight’, and there will start unimaginable ‘convulsions’ everywhere on earth! It will come without any immediate forewarning, but it will not happen without a great number of prophetic ‘signposts’ that presage their occurrence.
I have tried to show that those ‘signals’ are literally ‘pulsing’ all around us at this moment! The very ‘atmosphere’ is electric with the heavenly ‘siren alert’ blaring. In my opinion, something of earth-shocking impact is about to happen REALLY SOON—and WITHIN DECADES!!! (I believe this is the ‘season’ of Jesus’ return for His Church!)
ON THE ‘BRINK’
Multiplied millions of people across the world will disappear in a microsecond, and the aftermath of the sudden vanishing (particularly in America) will produce carnage that staggers the imagination! Those ‘left behind’ will face problems that will make any situation today seem modest in comparison! The aftermath of the “Rapture” will be a ruinous ‘cataclysm’ for those left behind, and will be like no other event since the Flood in Noah’s day!
My profound hope is that the exhortations I’ve written in this post will ‘impress’ upon you the fact that Jesus is on the VERY ‘BRINK’ of coming back for His ‘Bride’—the believing Church—to take them ‘home’ with Him to Heaven! Note that when the Rapture happens, the opportunity to avoid going through the “Tribulation”—literally Hell on earth—will be gone, and YOU WILL FACE UNFATHOMABLE HARDSHIPS and most likely a HORRIBLE DEATH!!!
It is my UNWAVERING CONVICTION that this is the ‘LAST’ GENERATION. The people that are now witnessing the convergence of all the prophetic signs in the exact ‘pattern’ that Jesus and other prophets predicted, WILL immediately precede His Second Coming.
Hopefully, I have clearly presented the current ‘events’ that look like to be the ‘signals’ that the Bible indicates will be the precursors of horrendous times to come—and that if you are NOT A ‘BELIEVER’, you are CONVINCED enough to CRY OUT to God in repentance and faith for Him to ‘SAVE’ YOU NOW—so you can miss the coming Tribulation and eventually be in Heaven with Him forever!!!
So then, I’m thinking THE question is, “Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE you are “SAVED” (“born again”) and that you are going to Heaven?”
IF SO, the “fields are white for harvest” (John 4:35)—go spread the Gospel and make disciples! (Matthew 28:19).
IF NOT, hopefully, this post has ‘pricked’ your ‘heart’ (Acts 2:36-37), and the Holy Spirit is ‘prompting’ you to become a ‘child’ of God. The “Prince of Preachers,” Charles Spurgeon once said that, “Oh, that we could so preach that our hearers should be at once pricked in their hearts, and so be led at once to believe in our Lord Jesus, and immediately to come forward and confess their faith in His name!”
It is MY ONE DESIRE that you become a ‘child’ of God! To repent of your sins towards God, and ‘come’ to faith (belief) in Jesus Christ! (to become “born again,” “saved” from eternal Hell, and be guaranteed to live with God in Heaven eternally!)

For the person who has NOT ‘ACCEPTED’ Jesus as their Savior, the Bible says that it is a FRIGHTENING prospect for their future—especially how HORRENDOUS the Bible describes the “Tribulation” (in the Book of Revelation). Life on earth is about to change in one, ‘electrifying’ moment—so don’t be ‘LEFT BEHIND’!!!
Just think of it. Since the Rapture is a ‘sign-less’ event, Jesus can return at any moment. The Christian might find themselves going through a ‘mundane’ day, and suddenly, they are ‘standing’ in front of Jesus!

HOW TO LIVE NOW
If you are a “born again” Christian and truly believe in the hope that Jesus could appear at any time and instantly ‘snatch’ you up to meet Him face-to-face, this should have a DRAMATIC IMPACT on the WAY YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE and should ‘DETERMINE’ your priorities. Would you be ‘embarrassed’ if He came right now?
The Christian should ‘plan’ their lives as if they will live another 100 years, but ‘live’ their life as if it’s the last one they have—and with world events fitting into the precisely predicted ‘pattern’ for the Second Coming of Jesus, how much more should the Christian take to heart about telling others to STRONGLY CONSIDER what the Bible says about all this! (Just what I’m trying to do here!)
However, the thing is, it will be a GREAT TRAGEDY for those “Christians” that ‘played’ church and will be left behind because they held onto a ‘false’ salvation. They honored God with their mouths, but their hearts were far from Him (Matthew 15:8), and Jesus is going to say, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness” [ Matthew 7:21-23 ]. Truly, NOT ALL who think they are going to be raptured are going to be! Heartbreaking!!! For these people it’s high time that they wake up from their ‘lethargy’ and realize it’s later than they think, and that they need to totally commit to Jesus—NOW!

Now, if you ARE NOT A ‘BELIEVER’, let me STRONGLY SUGGEST you investigate all of this NOW to develop your ‘conviction’ about this! [ The previous three Life’s Deep Thoughts” blog posts might be able to give you a ‘start’ in your quest ].
We don’t know the ‘precise’ day Jesus will return, however, hopefully, I’ve shown you that it seems like we are in the “season” when Jesus will come back (1 Chronicles 12:32; Luke 21:28).
You might say, “Then I’ll wait until I see God’s judgments come upon this earth, then I’ll turn to God for His mercy.” Well, if you are hearing of His goodness and mercy right now, this may be THE ONLY TIME God will ‘offer’ this to you! You cannot ‘cease’ repentance within yourself—it’s God’ doing! Stop and reflect RIGHT NOW. Are you going to ‘risk’ eternity in Heaven because you don’t want to respond right now?!

CLARION ‘CALL’
All the ‘signs’ of the times are pointing to the fact that, based on what the Bible says, we are coming REALLY CLOSE to the end of what it calls the “Church Age“—where true believers will be “raptured” by Jesus and taken to Heaven just before ‘all hell breaks loose’ on earth.
The Apostle Paul told us that in the last days we should “wake up from your slumber” because the “night is nearly over that day is almost here” (Romans 13:11b, 12a). Just like it is the darkest before the sunrise, I believe we are in the ‘DARKEST’ TIMES we have ever been in!
“Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come. It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert. Therefore, be on the alert—for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—in case he should come suddenly and find you asleep. What I say to you I say to all, ‘Be on the alert!’” [ Mark 13:33-37 ].
ESCAPE THE END TIMES!
There is NO DISPUTE among most bible scholars that Jesus IS COMING BACK—they just disagree on the ‘TIMING’.
So, you may disagree with my suggested ‘timing’ (that believers are ‘raptured’ before the Tribulation) and think believers will go through the Tribulation (“post-tribulation” view) or at least some of it (“mid-tribulation” view). Well, even though I believe I have presented a lot of ‘reasons’ to base my ‘pre-tribulation’ belief on (in my previous posts), I’m not going to be ‘dogmatic’ about it. My MAIN MESSAGE is to PREPARE you—suggesting that you be sure you are ‘SAVED’ NOW rather than later (I guess this is me harkening back to my Boy Scout days when it was ‘drilled’ into my head when I recited the Scout motto, to “BE PREPARED”).
Time is RUNNING OUT! The ‘Doomsday Clock’ is ready to strike ‘midnight’! Your ‘redemption’ is drawing NEAR! (Luke 21:28).
It looks like the ‘end’ will be here sooner than we think. GET PREPARED. ‘ESCAPE’ the Tribulation to come! “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” [ Romans 10:9 ]. You DON’T WANT TO BE ‘LEFT BEHIND’! If you are, you will face the WORST TIMES in the history of mankind!
God LOVES people and doesn’t want them to ‘perish’! He sent His Son, Jesus, to ‘do’ everything FOR YOU. It’s a ‘gift’ of love and mercy. Call upon Him. Ask Him to forgive your sins. Believe in your ‘heart’ that He raise Jesus from the grave. If you do so sincerely, you WILL BE ‘SAVED’! If NOT, at the end of time, all unbelievers will be ‘on trial’ at the “Great White Throne Judgment” to ‘stand’ before God to be judged according to their works (which all will fall REALLY SHORT of the righteousness required to dwell in the presence of God in Heaven), and will all end up in the Lake of Fire (“Hell”) eternally [ Because they don’t have THE BEST ‘defense attorney’ (Jesus) representing them at this divine ‘hearing’ ].
Former U.S. President (and attorney) Abraham Lincoln once said, “He who represents himself has a fool for a client.” So, why would make such a FOOLISH DECISION at the most important ‘trial’ of your eternal existence?
So, if you want to avoid the Great White Throne Judgment and being cast into an eternal Hell, then REPENT to God RIGHT NOW and ask Him to help your unbelief—so you can be ‘SAVED’ and spend eternity in Heaven with Him!
IT’S TERMINAL!
God is ‘winding up’ the final events prior to the return of Jesus. It’s kind of like a row of equally spaced dominos. When you push over the first one, the whole line of them goes down in sequence.
God is likewise ‘aligning’ all the end-time events right now, and He’s getting ready to ‘tip over’ the first event that will ‘trigger’ a series of events ultimately climaxing in the Rapture and the Second Coming of Jesus!
The Bible is a book of prophecy. It contains about 1,000 prophecies, with about 500 of which have already been fulfilled down to the minutest detail. With this STUNNING, proven track record of 100% ACCURACY (with 500 prophecies), I believe one can confidently believe that the remaining 500 yet-to-be-fulfilled prophecies will also come to pass at their appointed/prophesied time. (This also demonstrates that the Bible’s content is not made up by man, but rather has its origins outside our own time-space continuum.) Because of this, I am TOTALLY CONVINCED that the Bible was ‘inspired’ by God to tell us what is coming—and coming VERY SOON—based on what HE HAS PLANNED!
I TOTALLY AGREE with the millions of people that believe that we are in the “early stages of mass extinction” and are the “LAST GENERATION,” just NOT for the reasons they believe.
The Bible says there will be a “Rapture,” a final period of “Tribulation,” the “Second Coming” of Jesus to this earth, the “Millennial Kingdom,” and THEN God will totally ‘refresh’ the universe (“I am making everything new” – Revelation 21:5b). Just as the scientists and scholars have set the “Doomsday Clock”—that predicts the end of the world——at 11:58 pm (the closest the ‘clock’ has ever been to midnight), it looks like they are in agreement with what the Bible says we are in regards to earth’s final ‘timeline’—the VERY LAST ‘GENERATION’!
Israel has been described as “God’s time clock,” God’s prophetic clock,” and the “powder keg fuse for final world conflict.” When they became a ‘State’ in 1948, the clock began ‘ticking’ and the fuse was ‘lit’. It’s now YOUR DECISION to determine how close we are to the VERY END!
From what I believe the Bible says what a “generation” is, the ‘hourglass’ only has a few ‘grains’ left in it. MY ‘ESTIMATE’ for the occurrence of the Rapture is that it will be in the NEXT FEW DECADES!!!
So, IT’S TIME TO BE DISCERNING about the times we are in, to continue to ‘WATCH’ (Mark 13:37), and to BE SURE you are going to be RAPTURED and NOT BE ‘LEFT BEHIND’ to go through God’s final wrath upon rebellious unbelievers!!! (Revelation 3:10).
I am trying to be a ‘MESSENGER’ of a ‘RESCUE’ operation—a ‘WATCHMAN’—and to take as many people to Heaven with me as I can.

‘PRAYER’ OF REPENTANCE
In the Bible, there is a parable that Jesus told about a Pharisee and a tax collector praying in the Temple. He notes that the tax collector didn’t even dare to lift his eyes toward Heaven as he prayed. Instead he “beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner’”—and Jesus said that the tax collector “went home justified,” he had been “born again” and ‘reconciled’ by God. (Luke 18:9-14).
If you are ‘sensing’ something like that right now, let me strongly encourage you to HUMBLE YOURSELF, CRY OUT to God, and PLEAD for Him to mercifully ‘SAVE’ YOU! None of us have a ‘claim’ on our salvation, nor do we have any ‘works’ that would cause us to deserve it or earn it—it is purely a gift of Divine grace—and all any of us can do is ask. So, CONFESS YOUR SINS and acknowledge to God that you have no hope for Heaven apart from what He provides through Jesus.
There is no ‘formula’ or certain words for this. So just talk to God, in your own words—He knows your ‘heart’. If you are genuinely sincere, and God does respond to your plea, one will usually have a sense of joy and peace.
Jesus said, “He that comes to Me, I will not cast out” [ John 6:37 ].

“Across the globe, millions join biggest climate protest ever”

Millions of people demonstrated across the world yesterday demanding urgent action to tackle global heating, as they united across timezones and cultures to take part in the biggest climate protest in history.
In an explosion of the youth movement started by the Swedish school striker Greta Thunberg just over 12 months ago, people protested from the Pacific islands, through Australia, across-south east Asia and Africa into Europe and onwards to the Americas.
For the first time since the school strikes for climate began last year, young people called on adults to join them – and they were heard. Trade unions representing hundreds of millions of people around the world mobilised in support, employees left their workplaces, doctors and nurses marched and workers at firms like Amazon, Google and Facebook walked out to join the climate strikes.
In the estimated 185 countries where demonstrations took place, the protests often had their individual targets; from rising sea levels in the Solomon Islands, toxic waste in South Africa, to air pollution and plastic waste in India and coal expansion in Australia.
But the overall message was unified – a powerful demand for an urgent step-change in action to cut emissions and stabilise the climate.
The demonstrations took place on the eve of a UN climate summit, called by the secretary general, António Guterres, to inject urgency into government action to restrict the rise in global temperatures to 1.5C, as agreed under the 2015 Paris agreement.

Carbon emissions climbed to a record high last year, despite a warning from the UN-backed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that there is little more than a decade left to act to slash emissions and stabilise the climate.
Donald Trump will be at the UN headquarters during Monday’s key summit on the climate crisis – but will be there to take part in a meeting on religious freedom instead, in what will be seen by many as a snub.
On Friday, the voices of key political leaders were noticeable by their absence. Instead it was a day for people to set forth their demands, ranging from a ban on new mining in countries like South Africa and Australia, to a “green new deal” in the UK and US to better air quality and more trees in countries like India.
“We are out here to reclaim our right to live, our right to breathe and our right to exist, which is all being denied to us by an inefficient policy system that gives more deference to industrial and financial objectives rather than environmental standards,” said Aman Sharma, a young protester in Delhi.

The action began in the Pacific Islands, where citizens have repeatedly asked wealthier nations to do more to prevent rising sea levels. Over the course of the day children and students from Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Marshall Islands, Tonga, New Caledonia, the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea took part in poetry performances, silent protests, sporting events and discussions. Students held placards in Kiribati and chanted: “We are not sinking, we are fighting.”
The demonstrations spread across Australia – the world’s biggest exporter of coal and liquid natural gas – where more than 300,000 people took to the streets in 100 rallies, prompting a tweet from Thunberg – awake in New York – that the “huge crowd” would set the standard.

The Australian finance minister, Mathias Cormann, had said on Thursday that students should stay in class rather than go on strike.
In a retort, Danielle Porepilliasana, a Sydney high school student said: “World leaders from everywhere are telling us that students need to be at school doing work. I’d like to see them at their parliaments doing their jobs for once.”
In Tokyo, hundreds of students and environmental activists marched through the business and shopping district of Shibuya, chanting “Climate Justice!” while holding hand-painted placards made of cardboard with messages such as “Go Green,” ‘‘Save the Earth,” and “the Earth is on fire.”

Smaller rallies were held in more than a dozen cities around Japan, including Kyoto.
No protests were authorised in China, the world’s biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions, but Zheng Xiaowen of the China Youth Climate Action Network said Chinese youth would take action one way or another.
“Chinese youth have their own methods,” she said. “We also pay attention to the climate and we are also thinking deeply, interacting, taking action, and so many people are very conscientious on this issue.”
There was action, however, in Taiwan, where dozens of representatives from primary schools, high schools, and universities gathered in the capital, Taipei, to launch a petition to press candidates in the upcoming presidential election to lay out concrete policies to mitigate climate change risks.
In Thailand, hundreds of young people demonstrated outside the environment ministry in Bangkok and dropped to the ground feigning death.
“We are the future and we deserve better,” said 12-year-old Ralyn ‘Lilly’ Satidtanasarn – who has been dubbed “Thailand’s Greta” for her campaign against plastic bag use in a country where each person uses 3,000 throwaway bags a year.
In India’s capital Delhi, where the suffocating air pollution was the target of the demonstration, Rishika Singh, 18, said: “It’s the poorest who suffer the most. The rich are better off – they make the use of air conditioning and private cars for comfort.”

An armoured personnel carrier was deployed in the Afghan capital, Kabul, to protect about 100 young people as they marched, led by a group of young women carrying a banner emblazoned with “Fridays for Future”.
Fardeen Barakzai, one of the organisers and head of the local climate activist group, Oxygen, said: ”We want to do our part. We as the youth of our country know the problem of climate change.”
Africa
In Kenya’s capital Nairobi some young protesters wore hats and outfits made from plastic bottles to highlight the dangers of plastic waste, a major threat to people living in the developing world.
Strikes took place in several Nigerian cities, including Lagos, which is often beset by formidable quantities of toxic waste including thousands of tons of e-waste from the EU.
“Leaders should listen to what the climate scientists are saying. No leader should forfeit the future of younger generation,” said Oladosu Adenike, an activist in the Fridays4Future campaign in Nigeria.
A small but noisy crowd gathered in the financial district of Sandton in Johannesburg, outside the offices of Sasol, a huge South African energy and chemical company.
“We don’t really have a way out of this,” said Natalie Kapsosideris, 16. “The future looks really dismal at this point. There’s not going to be a lot of food available, there will be droughts, floods, natural disasters. The fact that Sasol gets away with stealing our future from us … and it’s all because they want to make money.”
Europe
Demonstrations took place in most European countries, with huge crowds in Warsaw, Poland and more than 1.4 million people taking action across Germany. In Berlin, demonstrators blocked roads and protested outside the German chancellery. In response, Angela Merkel announced a €50bn package of new measures to curb carbon emissions and review progress towards reaching its climate goals by 2030.
Merkel said that as a scientist she had been impressed by Thunberg’s motto “unite behind the science”.
“The chances are very good, they have grown, that we will reach our climate goals this time,” Merkel said. “If we should realise we’re not on track, then we will correct this.”
In Brussels one rather poetic placard read: “Respect existence or Expect resistance!”
Thousands took to the streets in Dublin. Luke Corkery, a university student, said in a tweet: “Blown away … This is a movement led by young people across the globe. We’re not just looking for an excuse for a day off school or college; we’re standing up for the future of our planet.”
Americas
The global protest culminated in New York which was anticipating one of the largest climate strikes. Education chiefs in the city gave every one of the 1.1 million children in its schools permission to attend the climate strike and hear Thunberg speak at a rally at the United Nations headquarters.
“Greta! Greta! Greta!” the crowd chanted as she took to the stage.
The 16-year-old directed her speech to the students in the crowd, though she acknowledged that adults also skipped worked to strike.
“We will do everything in our power to stop this crisis from getting worse, even if it means skipping school or work, because this is more important,” she said. “Why should we study for a future that is being taken away from us?”
She sparked laughter when she described all the politicians she had met who asked for selfies and “tell us they really, really admire what we do” yet have done nothing to address the climate crisis. “We demand a safe future. Is that really to much to ask?”
It was estimated that more than 250,000 people turned out for the protests in New York, with thousands more demonstrating in Boston, Miami and San Francisco.
In Mexico City, protesters chanted “Se ve, se siente, la tierra está caliente” – “You see it, you feel it. The earth is getting hotter.” In Brazil, where recent fires in the Amazon have drawn attention to the climate emergency, students attended protests in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and the capital Brasília.

Urgent changes needed to cut risk of extreme heat, drought, floods and poverty, says IPCC
The world’s leading climate scientists have warned there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C, beyond which even half a degree will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people.
The authors of the landmark report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released on Monday say urgent and unprecedented changes are needed to reach the target, which they say is affordable and feasible although it lies at the most ambitious end of the Paris agreement pledge to keep temperatures between 1.5C and 2C.
The half-degree difference could also prevent corals from being completely eradicated and ease pressure on the Arctic, according to the 1.5C study, which was launched after approval at a final plenary of all 195 countries in Incheon in South Korea that saw delegates hugging one another, with some in tears.
“It’s a line in the sand and what it says to our species is that this is the moment and we must act now,” said Debra Roberts, a co-chair of the working group on impacts. “This is the largest clarion bell from the science community and I hope it mobilises people and dents the mood of complacency.”
Policymakers commissioned the report at the Paris climate talks in 2016, but since then the gap between science and politics has widened. Donald Trump has promised to withdraw the US – the world’s biggest source of historical emissions – from the accord. The first round of Brazil’s presidential election on Sunday put Jair Bolsonaro into a strong position to carry out his threat to do the same and also open the Amazon rainforest to agribusiness.
The world is currently 1C warmer than preindustrial levels. Following devastating hurricanes in the US, record droughts in Cape Town and forest fires in the Arctic, the IPCC makes clear that climate change is already happening, upgraded its risk warning from previous reports, and warned that every fraction of additional warming would worsen the impact.
Scientists who reviewed the 6,000 works referenced in the report, said the change caused by just half a degree came as a revelation. “We can see there is a difference and it’s substantial,” Roberts said.
At 1.5C the proportion of the global population exposed to water stress could be 50% lower than at 2C, it notes. Food scarcity would be less of a problem and hundreds of millions fewer people, particularly in poor countries, would be at risk of climate-related poverty.
At 2C extremely hot days, such as those experienced in the northern hemisphere this summer, would become more severe and common, increasing heat-related deaths and causing more forest fires.
But the greatest difference would be to nature. Insects, which are vital for pollination of crops, and plants are almost twice as likely to lose half their habitat at 2C compared with 1.5C. Corals would be 99% lost at the higher of the two temperatures, but more than 10% have a chance of surviving if the lower target is reached.
Sea-level rise would affect 10 million more people by 2100 if the half-degree extra warming brought a forecast 10cm additional pressure on coastlines. The number affected would increase substantially in the following centuries due to locked-in ice melt.
Oceans are already suffering from elevated acidity and lower levels of oxygen as a result of climate change. One model shows marine fisheries would lose 3m tonnes at 2C, twice the decline at 1.5C.
Sea ice-free summers in the Arctic, which is warming two to three times faster than the world average, would come once every 100 years at 1.5C, but every 10 years with half a degree more of global warming.
Time and carbon budgets are running out. By mid-century, a shift to the lower goal would require a supercharged roll-back of emissions sources that have built up over the past 250 years.
The IPCC maps out four pathways to achieve 1.5C, with different combinations of land use and technological change. Reforestation is essential to all of them as are shifts to electric transport systems and greater adoption of carbon capture technology.
Carbon pollution would have to be cut by 45% by 2030 – compared with a 20% cut under the 2C pathway – and come down to zero by 2050, compared with 2075 for 2C. This would require carbon prices that are three to four times higher than for a 2C target. But the costs of doing nothing would be far higher.
“We have presented governments with pretty hard choices. We have pointed out the enormous benefits of keeping to 1.5C, and also the unprecedented shift in energy systems and transport that would be needed to achieve that,” said Jim Skea, a co-chair of the working group on mitigation. “We show it can be done within laws of physics and chemistry. Then the final tick box is political will. We cannot answer that. Only our audience can – and that is the governments that receive it.”
He said the main finding of his group was the need for urgency. Although unexpectedly good progress has been made in the adoption of renewable energy, deforestation for agriculture was turning a natural carbon sink into a source of emissions. Carbon capture and storage projects, which are essential for reducing emissions in the concrete and waste disposal industries, have also ground to a halt.
Reversing these trends is essential if the world has any chance of reaching 1.5C without relying on the untried technology of solar radiation modification and other forms of geo-engineering, which could have negative consequences.
In the run-up to the final week of negotiations, there were fears the text of the report would be watered down by the US, Saudi Arabia and other oil-rich countries that are reluctant to consider more ambitious cuts. The authors said nothing of substance was cut from a text.
Bob Ward, of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change, said the final document was “incredibly conservative” because it did not mention the likely rise in climate-driven refugees or the danger of tipping points that could push the world on to an irreversible path of extreme warming.
The report will be presented to governments at the UN climate conference in Poland at the end of this year. But analysts say there is much work to be done, with even pro-Paris deal nations involved in fossil fuel extraction that runs against the spirit of their commitments. Britain is pushing ahead with gas fracking, Norway with oil exploration in the Arctic, and the German government wants to tear down Hambach forest to dig for coal.
At the current level of commitments, the world is on course for a disastrous 3C of warming. The report authors are refusing to accept defeat, believing the increasingly visible damage caused by climate change will shift opinion their way.
“I hope this can change the world,” said Jiang Kejun of China’s semi-governmental Energy Research Institute, who is one of the authors. “Two years ago, even I didn’t believe 1.5C was possible but when I look at the options I have confidence it can be done. I want to use this report to do something big in China.”
The timing was good, he said, because the Chinese government was drawing up a long-term plan for 2050 and there was more awareness among the population about the problem of rising temperatures. “People in Beijing have never experienced so many hot days as this summer. It’s made them talk more about climate change.”
Regardless of the US and Brazil, he said, China, Europe and major cities could push ahead. “We can set an example and show what can be done. This is more about technology than politics.”
James Hansen, the former Nasa scientist who helped raised the alarm about climate change, said both 1.5C and 2C would take humanity into uncharted and dangerous territory because they were both well above the Holocene-era range in which human civilisation developed. But he said there was a huge difference between the two: “1.5C gives young people and the next generation a fighting chance of getting back to the Holocene or close to it. That is probably necessary if we want to keep shorelines where they are and preserve our coastal cities.”
Johan Rockström, a co-author of the recent Hothouse Earth report, said scientists never previously discussed 1.5C, which was initially seen as a political concession to small island states. But he said opinion had shifted in the past few years along with growing evidence of climate instability and the approach of tipping points that might push the world off a course that could be controlled by emissions reductions.
“Climate change is occurring earlier and more rapidly than expected. Even at the current level of 1C warming, it is painful,” he told the Guardian. “This report is really important. It has a scientific robustness that shows 1.5C is not just a political concession. There is a growing recognition that 2C is dangerous.”

“Climate Change Fears of Teen Activist Are Empirically Baseless”
At a recent United Nations summit, 16-year-old activist Greta Thunberg claimed that the Earth is on the brink of destruction and that older generations are betraying younger ones by not doing enough to stop climate change. The media has amplified these allegations by giving her speech broad, glowing coverage, but the fears she expressed are not grounded in reality.
The End of Humanity?
Thunberg says that she is “one of the lucky ones” who are not already “dying” from global warming and claims that with “today’s emissions levels our remaining CO2 budget will be gone in less than 8.5 years.” She frets that if we exceed this so-called budget, we risk “setting off irreversible chain reactions beyond human control.”
Such apocalyptic beliefs are common among young people. A recent Scott Rasmussen/HarrisX poll found that 51 percent of U.S. voters under the age of 35 believe it is “somewhat likely” or “very likely” that the “the earth will become uninhabitable and humanity will be wiped out” in “the next 10–15 years.”
Thunberg says her fears are justified by “more than 30 years” of “crystal-clear” science, but as detailed below, just the opposite is true. Contrary to predictions made three decades ago, a broad range of environmental and human welfare indicators related to the effects of climate change have stayed level or improved. Yet, in accord with a stratagem published at the outset of this period, many people are unaware of this.
“Getting Loads of Media Coverage”
Exactly 30 years ago in 1989, climatologist Stephen Schneider – the creator of the journal Climatic Change and one of the founding members of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) – told Discover magazine that in order to “reduce the risk of potentially disastrous climate change”:
we have to get some broad-based support, to capture the public’s imagination. That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have. This “double ethical bind” which we frequently find ourselves in cannot be solved by any formula. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest. I hope that means being both.
Despite his willingness to tell half-truths and compromise honesty for the sake of “being effective,” Schneider, along with his IPCC colleagues and Al Gore, was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for “efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change….”
In 1989, the same year that Schneider laid out his plan and when Thunberg says the clear scientific record began, high-ranking UN officials and EPA scientists predicted ruinous effects from global warming unless timely actions were taken to prevent it. These include projections about plants, forests, extinctions, agriculture, flooding, rainfall, hurricanes, and human health. Comparing these forecasts to the actual outcomes – or crystal-clear science – is revealing.
Plant Life
In 1989, William H. Mansfield III, the deputy executive director of the United Nations Environment Programme, wrote that “global warming may be the greatest challenge facing humankind,” and “any change of temperature, rainfall, and sea level of the magnitude now anticipated will be destructive to natural systems” like “plant” life.
In reality, a 2016 paper in the journal Nature Climate Change examined three long-term satellite datasets and found “a persistent and widespread increase” in “greening” or plant growth “over 25% to 50% of the global vegetated area” from 1982 to 2014, “whereas less than 4% of the globe” had less greening over this period.
Those findings support and update a 2003 paper in the journal Science, which found that a principal measure of worldwide vegetation productivity increased by 6.2 percent between 1982 and 1999. The authors note that this occurred during a period in which human population increased by 37 percent, the level of atmospheric CO2 increased by 9 percent, and the Earth “had two of the warmest decades in the instrumental record.”
Forests & Trees
In the same 1989 article, Mansfield claimed that “forests would be adversely affected” by global warming.
In contrast, reports published by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization from 2015 through 2018 found that the mass of above-ground organic plant materials in forests “has remained stable since the 1990s” and “most regions of the world are experiencing either positive or small-to-no changes in forest area or above-ground biomass.”
More significantly, the journal Nature published a study in 2018 that analyzed satellite data to obtain “a comprehensive record of global land-change dynamics” from 1982 to 2016. It found that tree cover increased by 7.1 percent during this period, with the margins of error ranging from a 2.9 percent to 10.8 percent rise with 90 percent confidence.
Extinctions
In 1989, Sandra Henderson, a biogeographer at EPA’s Environmental Research Laboratory, wrote that “scientists are warning of a possible loss of 20 percent of the earth’s species before the end of the century,” and “a major factor in this modern species extinction may be our alteration of the earth’s climate: global warming due to increased concentrations of greenhouse gases.”
Given that roughly 1.2 million species have been cataloged, a loss of 20 percent would be 240,000 species.
Yet, during 1984–2004, the International Union for Conservation of Nature recorded 27 confirmed species extinctions. This is not an exact figure, as the report notes that other extinctions may have occurred, such as “eight species of birds.” Regardless of the precise number, the actual loss was orders of magnitude below the projected one and in line with the average historical extinction rate.
Likewise, a 2011 paper in the journal Diversity and Distributions notes that extinctions mainly occur on islands where populations are small and tightly restricted by physical boundaries. Thus, the paper analyzed continental extinctions and found only six confirmed extinctions of continental birds and three confirmed extinctions of continental mammals since the year 1500. These figures amount to 0.08 percent of continental mammals and 0.062 percent of continental birds.
Despite these facts, people have led Thunberg to believe that “entire ecosystems are collapsing,” and “we are in the beginning of a mass extinction.”
Agriculture
Mansfield also wrote in 1989 that “food supplies” would be negatively impacted and “changes in rainfall patterns would disrupt agriculture.”
In actuality, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization reported in 2003 that food consumption per person increased by 15 percent worldwide and 25 percent in developing countries between the mid-1970s and late 1990s.
Continuing this trend, UN data from 2000 to 2015 shows that the portion of the world population that was undernourished decreased from 15 percent to 11 percent:

From 1992 to 2016, while global population increased by 36 percent, the average number of calories needed to lift all the undernourished people of the world out of that condition decreased from 172 to 88 calories per person:

Flooding
In 1989, the Associated Press reported: “A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000. Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of ‘eco- refugees,’ threatening political chaos, said Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program.”
Similarly, Mansfield wrote in 1989: “Sea-level rise as a consequence of global warming would immediately threaten that large fraction of the globe living at sea level. … Most of the world’s great seaport cities would be endangered: New Orleans, Amsterdam, Shanghai, Cairo. Some countries-the Maldives Islands in the Indian Ocean, islands in the Pacific-would be inundated. Heavily populated coastal areas such as in Bangladesh and Egypt, where large populations occupy low-lying areas, would suffer extreme dislocation.”
In reality, a study of satellite data published by the journal Nature Climate Change in 2016 found that from 1985 to 2015, the net amount of land area on Earth grew by about 22,400 square miles, and the net amount of coastal land grew by about 5,200 square miles.
Increases in land area and/or human population have also occurred in places that are considered to be highly vulnerable to rising sea levels. This includes Pacific island nations like Kiribati and Tuvalu, Bangladesh, and Florida’s coastal areas.
This is not to say that the average global sea level isn’t rising. This has been happening since 1860 or earlier, which is about 45 years before surface temperatures began to rise and 75 years before man-made emissions of carbon dioxide reached one percent of natural emissions. However, the trends and effects have been nothing like climate doomsayers have predicted.
Rainfall
Again in 1989, Dr. David Rind, an atmospheric scientist at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies and a “leading researcher” on global warming, wrote that his agency’s “model’s forecast for the next 50 years” predicts an average global temperature increase of “3.6ºF by the year 2020.” As a result, he said that “rainfall patterns would likely be substantially altered, posing the threat of large-scale disruptions of agricultural and economic productivity, and water shortages in some areas.”
As it turned out, Earth’s average global temperature increased by about 0.7ºF between the 1980s and 2010s, or by one-fifth of this projection.
With regard to rainfall, a 2015 paper in the Journal of Hydrology examined rainfall measurements “made at nearly 1,000 stations located in 114 countries” and found “no significant global precipitation change from 1850 to present.” The paper notes that previous studies had analyzed shorter timeframes and found rainfall changes that some people had attributed to global warming, but those results were generally not statistically significant and “not entirely surprising given that precipitation varies considerably over time scales of decades.”
Regarding drought, a 2013 paper in the journal Theoretical and Applied Climatology found that contrary to “climate models,” actual observations “reveal no significant trend in the areas under drought over land in the past three decades.” The study did find increasing drought over land in the Southern Hemisphere, but the hemisphere is only 19 percent land, as opposed to 39 percent in the Northern Hemisphere. The trend is also well within the bounds of short-term variability, as shown in this chart from the paper:

Hurricanes
Mansfield also wrote in 1989 that “warmer oceans would spawn stronger hurricanes and typhoons, resulting in coastal flooding, possibly swamping valuable agricultural lands around the world.”
Actual outcomes show nothing of the sort. As far back in time as reliable data exists, global hurricane frequency, intensity, and duration have all been level. Comprehensive global datasets on hurricane frequency and intensity, which were published by the journal Geophysical Research Letters in 2011 and updated in 2018, show roughly flat trends for the past four-to-five decades.
Likewise, the IPCC reported in 2012: “There is low confidence in any observed long-term (i.e., 40 years or more) increases in tropical cyclone activity (i.e., intensity, frequency, duration), after accounting for past changes in observing capabilities.” This also applies to hurricanes, which are tropical cyclones with winds exceeding 73 miles per hour.
Highlighting how people have been misled about this issue, a national scientific survey commissioned by Just Facts in 2018 found that 66 percent of U.S. voters believe that the global “number and intensity of hurricanes and tropical storms have generally increased since the 1980s,” including 91 percent of Democrats and 40 percent of Republicans.
Human Health
Mansfield also wrote in 1989: “Human health would be affected. Warming could enlarge tropical climate bringing with it yellow fever, malaria, and other diseases.”
Populations of disease-carrying insects have grown dramatically over the past several decades, but as multiple studies have shown, there is no reliable evidence that climate change is the reason. Instead, another factor is the probable cause.
As documented in a 2016 study of coastal U.S. mosquito populations in the journal Nature Communications, increases in U.S. mosquito populations don’t correspond with rising temperatures but with decreasing residues of the pesticide DDT. This occurred because governments restricted and banned DDT at the behest of environmental activists.
The World Health Organization and some environmental organizations now endorse using DDT inside of homes to combat malaria. Other environmental groups still insist that it harms human health, even though a 2000 article in the British Medical Journal reported that there is “not even one peer reviewed, independently replicated study linking exposure to DDT with any adverse health outcome.”
Likewise, a 2012 paper in the medical journal Lancet about insect-borne diseases explains that “climate has not consistently changed in the right way, at the right time, and in the right places to account for the” changes in vector-borne diseases. The paper also notes that “a persistent stream of reviews are published that claim that climate change is a primary driving force.” This incessant misreporting fits with Schneider’s marching orders to “offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have.”
Tipping Points
Despite the fact that these decades-old predictions of climate catastrophes have yet to materialize, some claim they are just around the corner. Thunberg, for instance, says that people don’t “fully” understand the “urgency” of the situation and that “cutting our emissions in half in 10 years only gives us a 50 percent chance of staying below 1.5ºC degrees, and the risk of setting off irreversible chain reactions beyond human control.”
Such assertions are strikingly similar to those made thirty years ago. The Associated Press reported in 1989 that Brown “said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control.”
Thunberg, however, seems to be unaware of the historical record and worries about “tipping points.” A tipping point, as defined by the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, is “a critical moment in a complex situation in which a small influence or development produces a sudden large or irreversible change.” While the future is inherently uncertain, the very nature of carbon dioxide impedes that possibility.
That is because the greenhouse effect of additional carbon dioxide – the primary manmade greenhouse gas – declines as its levels increase. This scientific fact is rarely revealed to the public, but as Stephen Schneider himself wrote in the journal Science in 1971: “As more CO2 is added to the atmosphere, the rate of temperature increase is proportionally less and less, and the increase eventually levels off.”
In technical terms, Schneider explains that “the runaway greenhouse effect does not occur because the 15-μm CO2 band, which is the main source of absorption, ‘saturates,’ and the addition of more CO2 does not substantially increase the infrared opacity of the atmosphere.”
Conclusion
According to an article in Time magazine, Thunberg “cited more than 30 years of scientific evidence showing the consequences of a perpetually warming globe.” That is a misleading description of her words. In reality, she merely claimed this was so without presenting any scientific evidence to support it.
To the contrary, a wide array of environmental and human welfare indicators related to climate change have stayed level or improved for the past 30 years. This includes measurable outcomes of plants, forests, extinctions, agriculture, flooding, rainfall, hurricanes, and human health. This is true “crystal-clear” science, and it is at odds with Thunberg’s beliefs.
Legendary physicist Richard Feynman was an extremely creative thinker who blazed new frontiers of science, but he was also a staunch advocate of the view that science must be grounded in practical reality. He expressed this by saying: “The principle of science, the definition, almost, is the following: The test of all knowledge is experiment. Experiment is the sole judge of scientific ‘truth’.”
The real-world experiments of the past 30 years constitute genuine science, while the failed predictions of certain scientists and environmental officials have proven to be the antithesis of science.
In her speech, Thunberg raged that people “have stolen my dreams and my childhood,” which is arguably true. However, she blames the wrong culprits. Her anxiety and desperation are not the fault of adults who act in accord with the facts of this issue. Instead, Thunberg’s tormenters are the people who have indoctrinated her and many other youth with unfounded fears.

These days it seems you can hardly turn on the TV, go online, or open your morning newspaper without being confronted with the idea of global warming. In his 2006 Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore presents global warming as an imminent threat to the planet and paints an alarming picture of a future in which mankind ultimately destroys life on earth.
But global warming is far more intricate than one 48-minute film can convey, and most people are simply not getting some of the most important information.
It’s clear that global warming is a complex and emotionally charged issue, one that cannot be ignored in today’s cultural and political climate. New claims and counter-claims appear in the press with numbing regularity, leaving many Christians uncertain what to believe. Rather than getting lost in the details, it is necessary first to uncover the basic facts and then to understand the assumptions that drive the interpretations of those facts.
Although many people may think otherwise, all of us have assumptions (beliefs) that influence how we look at the facts. If a scientist believes in billions of years of earth history, he will assume, for example, that polar ice needed hundreds of thousands of years to build up over two miles in depth. Scientists who believe in the biblical account of Noah’s Flood, on the other hand, believe the ice must have appeared shortly after the Flood. Depending on their assumptions, equally skilled scientists can reach very different conclusions.
In the global warming debate, it is important to separate fact from interpretation. We hear a great deal about the dangers of CO2 emissions and greenhouse gases, but rarely do we hear the facts behind the hype.
Assumptions and beliefs about the past play a major role in shaping our present attitudes. In order to see past the hype, we must start from God’s Word, the Bible. From there we can uncover the truth about climate change—the history, the causes, and the answers.

“A Proposed Bible-Science Perspective on Global Warming”
Abstract
Media coverage of global warming has been increasing for over twenty years. Major proponents include the United Nations, politicians, environmentalists, and celebrities. Oddly, the church has had little to say on the issue and has made scant use of Scripture to evaluate the alleged problem. This paper will identify the major goals of global warming advocates, propose a biblical (young-earth creationist) framework for evaluating the issue, and highlight basic scientific data related to the alleged claims. It will be shown that the Bible provides sufficient counsel to enable Christians to evaluate the claims of global warming and arrive at a confident position that is in accord with real science. The contention that man’s activities are causing global warming, as described in the media and by its advocates, is a myth. There is no reason either biblically or scientifically to fear the exaggerated and misguided claims of catastrophe as a result of increasing levels of man-made carbon dioxide (CO2).

“Common Sense Versus Climate Hysteria”
Whether it’s fires in California or Brazil, hurricanes like Dorian or your summer hot spell, it’s not just weather anymore but a sign of the impending apocalypse.
This specter of imminent demise tied to the everyday, notes one American Psychological Association study, has induced “stress, depression and anxiety” among a wide part of the population. The Congress’ leading green advocate, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, admits her climate concerns often wake her up at 3:30 in the morning.
Of course, significant changes in the climate could well be afoot, but our “woke” media and its favored go-to expert class seem more prone to hysteric prophesizing than properly skeptical analysis.
After Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005, some climatistas confidently predicted that it was harbinger of ever more powerful tropic storms, yet it was followed for 10 years by something of a “hurricane drought” that, sadly, may be at an end.
Little is said about anything that may alter the narrative, such as reports from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration statistics show at most only minimal warming in the United States since 2005.
Few have heard that despite the recent fires in the Amazon, widely portrayed as part of a relentless incendiary burning tied to climate, as Mike Shellenberger notes, there’s been a 25 percent drop in fires globally since 2003; rather than burning up the forest, we have been planting more trees than harvesting them for over three decades.
And remember the California drought that Gov. Jerry Brown and his acolytes linked to climate change? That prolonged dry spell ended in a series of downpours, as it has for much of past 150 years.
The uses of apocalypse
The Catholic Church discovered millennia ago that the prospect of apocalypse provides a brilliant tool of propaganda. To people in the Middle Ages, observed historian Barbara Tuchman, “apocalypse was in the air,” the spawn of human sin. In much the same way the environmental movement links human material aspirations with impending disaster, citing manmade climate change as the singular explanation for everything from starvation, wars and crop failures to hurricanes, floods or any other unusual weather.
Unlike the medieval apocalypse, ours is cloaked in scientism, and is propelled to a certainty by computer models. Yet experience should engender some degree of skepticism — if history-challenged journalists knew different. One of the fundamental documents of modern environmentalism, the widely hailed 1972 Club of Rome report, predicted massive shortages of natural resources and the end of economic growth, claims generally accepted without skepticism in media, academic and political circles. Yet energy and food subsequently became more plentiful than ever as the world has experienced the largest growth in affluence in its history.
Never called to account, greens and their allies can still follow the same mantra with predictable reliability. Upon the election of President Barack Obama in 2009, NASA’s James Hansen, one of the icons of the climate change movement, announced that the new chief executive had a bare “four years to save the Earth.” A year earlier ABC in 2008 claimed that Manhattan would be “under water” by 2015. None of these predictions, at least so far, have come true.
Hysteria leads to bad policy
The reinforced specter of imminent destruction increasingly drives the demand for ever more extreme policy choices. Climate researchers at Sweden’s Lund University and Oregon State University have proposed taxes on people who have children for their “carbon legacy,” even at a time of plummeting birthrates.
Part of the problem may stem from the complexity of the issue. The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change itself has suggested that climate prediction is difficult, if not impossible. Most of their projections are far less hysterical than those embraced by the media, which generally report only the most extreme predictions.
But the notion of an impending crisis is useful if you want to lobby for greater control of everyday life. As one of the architects of the Green New Deal recently said, “Do you guys think of [the GND] as a climate thing? Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.” This proposal, echoed those recently offered by Bernie Sanders, would destroy jobs in many industries, such as aerospace and fossil-fuel energy, and force governments to compensate displaced workers.
Resilience and common sense
Common sense is really what we need. No amount of virtue-signaling by governments, celebrities, royalty or the media can make up for the fact that virtually all growth in greenhouse gases comes not from the West but from China, easily the world’s champion emitter, India and a host of poorer countries. Driving a Tesla or Prius is not going to change much, and many green-backed policies, such as in Germany and California , have done little, if anything, for the climate, but have succeeded in hurting middle- and working-class people far more than the affluent.
Given these realities, the logical course is to focus an intelligent economically sensible transition to a lower-carbon economy while pushing for resiliency measures to deal with the possible results of higher GHG emissions. Rather than seek to turn people into insect eaters and permanent apartment dwellers, perhaps we should push for measures in the new infrastructure bill before Congress to bolster coastal defenses, underground power lines, improve dams and water systems.
The future belongs not to the most self-righteous but the most adaptable. This is gradually taking root in the policy discussion. After years of opposition, some environmentalists now accept that poorly managed forests in states like California must be trimmed to forestall massive firestorms. Others propose more expenditure on coastal walls, dispersed power systems, desalination plants and better storage of water.
The Netherlands provides a compelling role model here. After experiencing a massive flood in the 16th century, the Dutch embarked on a successful and extensive expansion of coastal berms to prevent future floods and bolstered their economy ever since. In contrast places that failed to address climate-related risks led to the decline of numerous cities in ancient Mesoamerica, the Indus Valley, Cambodia and, more recently, New Orleans.
Ultimately, the climate issue can be best addressed not by fueling anxiety but by adopting a practical and economically feasible approach. Quasi-religious hysteria may provide meaning for activists, but given the global nature of the problem, we need to address it not with panic but reason, and careful consideration about consequences, something in all too short supply today.

Really? 12 years?
John Stossel recently moderated a debate held by The Heartland Institute. Well, not a debate … because climate alarmists who were invited didn’t show.
“Please … let’s have a discussion!” begs astrophysicist Willie Soon.
Stossel says the panel convincingly debunked four myths. One is the new claim: “we only have 12 years to act.”
Pat Michaels, former president of the American Association of State Climatologists, says, “It’s warmed up around one degree Celsius since 1900, and life expectancy DOUBLED … yet [if] that temperature ticks up another half a degree … the entire system crashes? That’s the most absurd belief.”
Climatology Professor David Legates adds, “In twelve years it’ll be 12 more years.”
The 3 scientists argue that even if the planet warms by 5 degrees, humans can adjust. We already have. People in Holland did.
Holland is a low-lying country. Much of it is below sea-level. So many years ago, the Dutch built dikes to prevent flooding. Michaels says, “Are you telling me that the people in Miami are so dumb that they’re just going to sit there and drown?”
“You acknowledge though the water is rising?” asks Stossel.
Legates interjects, “Yes, the water has been rising for approximately 20,000 years.”
Another myth they bust: government action today will save us.
“The Obama’s administration’s model projects that the amount of global warming that would be saved [by the US] going to ZERO emissions tomorrow … would be 14 hundredths of a degree Celsius,” says Michaels.
It wouldn’t stop global warming but: “You’ll sure have an impoverished dark country.” he continues.
“Global warming is why hurricanes are getting worse” and the idea that “carbon dioxide is a pollutant that just does harm” are two other myths the scientists debunk.
Stossel concludes by asking, “Are they right? It’s hard to believe they are when so many serious people are so worried. I wish there were a real debate! Why won’t the other side debate?”

“Resisting Climate Hysteria”
A Case Against Precipitous Climate Action
The notion of a static, unchanging climate is foreign to the history of the earth or any other planet with a fluid envelope. The fact that the developed world went into hysterics over changes in global mean temperature anomaly of a few tenths of a degree will astound future generations. Such hysteria simply represents the scientific illiteracy of much of the public, the susceptibility of the public to the substitution of repetition for truth, and the exploitation of these weaknesses by politicians, environmental promoters, and, after 20 years of media drum beating, many others as well. Climate is always changing. We have had ice ages and warmer periods when alligators were found in Spitzbergen. Ice ages have occurred in a hundred thousand year cycle for the last 700 thousand years, and there have been previous periods that appear to have been warmer than the present despite CO2 levels being lower than they are now. More recently, we have had the medieval warm period and the little ice age. During the latter, alpine glaciers advanced to the chagrin of overrun villages. Since the beginning of the 19th Century these glaciers have been retreating. Frankly, we don’t fully understand either the advance or the retreat.
For small changes in climate associated with tenths of a degree, there is no need for any external cause. The earth is never exactly in equilibrium. The motions of the massive oceans where heat is moved between deep layers and the surface provides variability on time scales from years to centuries. Recent work (Tsonis et al, 2007), suggests that this variability is enough to account for all climate change since the 19th Century. Supporting the notion that man has not been the cause of this unexceptional change in temperature is the fact that there is a distinct signature to greenhouse warming: surface warming should be accompanied by warming in the tropics around an altitude of about 9km that is about 2.5 times greater than at the surface. Measurements show that warming at these levels is only about 3/4 of what is seen at the surface, implying that only about a third of the surface warming is associated with the greenhouse effect, and, quite possibly, not all of even this really small warming is due to man (Lindzen, 2007, Douglass et al, 2007). This further implies that all models predicting significant warming are greatly overestimating warming. This should not be surprising (though inevitably in climate science, when data conflicts with models, a small coterie of scientists can be counted upon to modify the data. Thus, Santer, et al (2008), argue that stretching uncertainties in observations and models might marginally eliminate the inconsistency. That the data should always need correcting to agree with models is totally implausible and indicative of a certain corruption within the climate science community).
It turns out that there is a much more fundamental and unambiguous check of the role of feedbacks in enhancing greenhouse warming that also shows that all models are greatly exaggerating climate sensitivity. Here, it must be noted that the greenhouse effect operates by inhibiting the cooling of the climate by reducing net outgoing radiation. However, the contribution of increasing CO2 alone does not, in fact, lead to much warming (approximately 1° for each doubling of CO2). The larger predictions from climate models are due to the fact that, within these models, the more important greenhouse substances, water vapor and clouds, act to greatly amplify whatever CO2 does. This is referred to as a positive feedback. It means that increases in surface temperature are accompanied by reductions in the net outgoing radiation – thus enhancing the greenhouse warming. All climate models show such changes when forced by observed surface temperatures. Satellite observations of the earth’s radiation budget allow us to determine whether such a reduction does, in fact, accompany increases in surface temperature in nature. As it turns out, the satellite data from the ERBE instrument (Barkstrom, 1984, Wong et al, 2006) shows that the feedback in nature is strongly negative — strongly reducing the direct effect of CO2 (Lindzen and Choi, 2009) in profound contrast to the model behavior. This analysis makes clear that even when all models agree, they can all be wrong, and that this is the situation for the all important question of climate sensitivity.
According to the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the greenhouse forcing from man made greenhouse gases is already about 86% of what one expects from a doubling of CO2 (with about half coming from methane, nitrous oxide, freons and ozone), and alarming predictions depend on models for which the sensitivity to a doubling for CO2 is greater than 2C which implies that we should already have seen much more warming than we have seen thus far, even if all the warming we have seen so far were due to man. This contradiction is rendered more acute by the fact that there has been no statistically significant net global warming for the last fourteen years. Modelers defend this situation by arguing that aerosols have cancelled much of the warming, and that models adequately account for natural unforced internal variability. However, a recent paper (Ramanathan, 2007) points out that aerosols can warm as well as cool, while scientists at the UK’s Hadley Centre for Climate Research recently noted that their model did not appropriately deal with natural internal variability thus demolishing the basis for the IPCC’s iconic attribution (Smith et al, 2007). Interestingly (though not unexpectedly), the British paper did not stress this. Rather, they speculated that natural internal variability might step aside in 2009, allowing warming to resume. Resume? Thus, the fact that warming has ceased for the past fourteen years is acknowledged. It should be noted that, more recently, German modelers have moved the date for ‘resumption’ up to 2015 (Keenlyside et al, 2008).
Climate alarmists respond that some of the hottest years on record have occurred during the past decade. Given that we are in a relatively warm period, this is not surprising, but it says nothing about trends.
Given that the evidence (and I have noted only a few of many pieces of evidence) strongly implies that anthropogenic warming has been greatly exaggerated, the basis for alarm due to such warming is similarly diminished. However, a really important point is that the case for alarm would still be weak even if anthropogenic global warming were significant. Polar bears, arctic summer sea ice, regional droughts and floods, coral bleaching, hurricanes, alpine glaciers, malaria, etc. etc. all depend not on some global average of surface temperature anomaly, but on a huge number of regional variables including temperature, humidity, cloud cover, precipitation, and direction and magnitude of wind. The state of the ocean is also often crucial. Our ability to forecast any of these over periods beyond a few days is minimal (a leading modeler refers to it as essentially guesswork). Yet, each catastrophic forecast depends on each of these being in a specific range. The odds of any specific catastrophe actually occurring are almost zero. This was equally true for earlier forecasts of famine for the 1980’s, global cooling in the 1970’s, Y2K and many others. Regionally, year to year fluctuations in temperature are over four times larger than fluctuations in the global mean. Much of this variation has to be independent of the global mean; otherwise the global mean would vary much more. This is simply to note that factors other than global warming are more important to any specific situation. This is not to say that disasters will not occur; they always have occurred and this will not change in the future. Fighting global warming with symbolic gestures will certainly not change this. However, history tells us that greater wealth and development can profoundly increase our resilience.
In view of the above, one may reasonably ask why there is the current alarm, and, in particular, why the astounding upsurge in alarmism of the past 4 years. When an issue like global warming is around for over twenty years, numerous agendas are developed to exploit the issue. The interests of the environmental movement in acquiring more power, influence, and donations are reasonably clear. So too are the interests of bureaucrats for whom control of CO2 is a dream-come-true. After all, CO2 is a product of breathing itself. Politicians can see the possibility of taxation that will be cheerfully accepted because it is necessary for ‘saving’ the earth. Nations have seen how to exploit this issue in order to gain competitive advantages. But, by now, things have gone much further. The case of ENRON (a now bankrupt Texas energy firm) is illustrative in this respect. Before disintegrating in a pyrotechnic display of unscrupulous manipulation, ENRON had been one of the most intense lobbyists for Kyoto. It had hoped to become a trading firm dealing in carbon emission rights. This was no small hope. These rights are likely to amount to over a trillion dollars, and the commissions will run into many billions. Hedge funds are actively examining the possibilities; so was the late Lehman Brothers. Goldman Sachs has lobbied extensively for the ‘cap and trade’ bill, and is well positioned to make billions. It is probably no accident that Gore, himself, is associated with such activities. The sale of indulgences is already in full swing with organizations selling offsets to one’s carbon footprint while sometimes acknowledging that the offsets are irrelevant. The possibilities for corruption are immense. Archer Daniels Midland (America’s largest agribusiness) has successfully lobbied for ethanol requirements for gasoline, and the resulting demand for ethanol may already be contributing to large increases in corn prices and associated hardship in the developing world (not to mention poorer car performance). And finally, there are the numerous well meaning individuals who have allowed propagandists to convince them that in accepting the alarmist view of anthropogenic climate change, they are displaying intelligence and virtue. For them, their psychic welfare is at stake.
With all this at stake, one can readily suspect that there might be a sense of urgency provoked by the possibility that warming may have ceased and that the case for such warming as was seen being due in significant measure to man, disintegrating. For those committed to the more venal agendas, the need to act soon, before the public appreciates the situation, is real indeed. However, for more serious leaders, the need to courageously resist hysteria is clear. Wasting resources on symbolically fighting ever present climate change is no substitute for prudence. Nor is the assumption that the earth’s climate reached a point of perfection in the middle of the twentieth century a sign of intelligence.

“Human-Caused Global Warming Slight So Far”
Reasons why Christians should be cautious about the controversial topic of global warming are listed. Examples of exaggeration by doomsayers are numerous and a few are presented. Based on what is known about global warming, the presumed global temperature increase and the amount of carbon dioxide increase since 1959, a case is presented that global warming is not so dire. Manmade versus natural climatic warming is discussed. Evidence that the climate models are too sensitive to a doubling of carbon dioxide is given. The question of whether global warming will have a net harm is briefly touched upon. The conclusion is that more unbiased research is needed.

The concern over global warming seems to be escalating. We hear a steady media drumbeat that man has caused practically all the global warming, and we need to act now to avoid disaster. Al Gore seems to be the leader in all this hype with his movie and book, An Inconvenient Truth.1 Although backing away from the sea level rise that is supposed to occur by 2100 (one foot),2 the United-Nations-sponsored Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) continued the drumbeat in its latest 2007 report. The most widely read scientific journals Science and Nature have an article on the effects and dangers of man-made global warming almost weekly. Outlandish statements are rampant, such as: “A well-known environmental spokesperson warns that future sea-level rise will drown much of creation.”3 A woman even aborted her baby, saying that she was reducing her “carbon footprint.”
All these voices assume that practically all the 1.2°F global warming since 1880 is caused by man, and only a tiny bit is natural. But other voices can be found in the recent literature that conclude that natural processes are significant, especially before 1980.4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 In fact, many researchers believe that natural process are predominant before 1980.

Well, at the same time as this item was dominating the news, a collection of headlines from around the world was released titled, “Wrong Again: 50 Years of Failed Eco-pocalyptic Predictions.” Since the 1960s, scientists and government leaders have been warning of catastrophic environmental failure, largely due to climate change. But their predictions don’t come true!
Some of these failed apocalyptic scenarios include:
In 1967, Stanford biologist Paul Ehrlich said it was “already too late” to stop a long famine period that would be at its worst by 1975.
In 1970, many scientists predicted a new ice age by the 21st century, the depletion of all the rivers in the US, and a lack of oxygen in the atmosphere.
In 1978, scientists said there was “no end in sight” to a 30-year cooling trend.
In 1989, rising sea waters were thought to obliterate nations by the year 2000.
In 2008, the Arctic was expected to be free of sea ice in the summer by 2018.
And we’ll see if a 2004 prediction that Britain will have the same climate as Siberia by 2024 will come true.
Of course, none of these (and many other) predictions have come true. This track record should cause everyone to pause and consider that the issues are much more complicated than they appear (and just maybe our climate, and the systems that control it, were created by an all-knowing Creator!). Climates change, but why they change doesn’t seem to be as straightforward as we’re often told.
And yes, there are genuine and important environmental issues going on around us right now. As God’s stewards who have been given dominion over creation, there are things we should be concerned about, and we should strive to change so creation can continue to be used for our good and God’s glory. But we should be doing so with a proper perspective, not with climate-change hysteria.
Such hysteria has really resulted from generations of young people not being taught how to think and being brainwashed in secular philosophy!

Many politicians and climatologists say that it is time to take immediate, radical actions, with little regard for the consequences of those actions. “Latest Climate Report Feeds into Alarmist Fearmongering”
The National Climate Assessment insists that climate change is already taking a heavy toll, and things will only get worse.
This extraordinary scenario assumes a massive increase in coal consumption — completely ignoring the dramatic increase in natural-gas production.
All of the currently favored proposals for combatting climate change carry significant costs and… would do nothing to mitigate warming.
Propagating improbabilities isn’t science. It’s irresponsible and does a disservice to the climate discussion broadly.
The latest National Climate Assessment, released just last week, aims to plant yet another seed of climate catastrophism into the mind of the public. Predictably, its worst-case scenarios got huge play in the media. After all, disaster sells.
But the doomsday scenarios that animated talking heads throughout the weekend aren’t just highly unlikely; they’re close to impossible. For example, the report speculated that climate “inaction” could result in as much as a 10 percent drop in U.S. gross domestic product by 2100. Admittedly, a lot can happen in 82 years. But a 10 percent drop in GDP is more than twice the loss suffered during the Great Recession.
How could things get so bad? Well, put garbage in, and you’ll get garbage out. The study, funded in part by climate warrior Tom Steyer, calculates these costs by assuming that the world will be 15 degrees Fahrenheit warmer by 2100. That mind-boggling assumption is even higher than the worst-case scenario predicted by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In other words, it is completely unrealistic.

Other scary projections in the National Climate Assessment rely on a theoretical climate trajectory known as Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5 (RCP 8.5) — one of four trajectories that climatologists use to estimate the effects of different greenhouse-gas concentrations.
To put it plainly, RCP 8.5 assumes a combination of extreme factors — all bad — that are not likely to all coincide. It assumes “the fastest population growth (a doubling of Earth’s population to 12 billion), the lowest rate of technology development, slow GDP growth, a massive increase in world poverty, plus high energy use and emissions.”
This extraordinary scenario assumes a massive increase in coal consumption — completely ignoring the dramatic increase in natural-gas production from the shale revolution. It also ignores technological innovations that continue to occur in nuclear and renewable technologies.
When taking a more realistic view of the future of conventional fuel use and increased greenhouse-gas emissions, the doomsday scenarios vanish. Climatologist Judith Curry recently wrote, “Many ‘catastrophic’ impacts of climate change don’t really kick at the lower CO2 concentrations, and RCP 8.5 then becomes useful as a ‘scare’ tactic.”
The National Climate Assessment insists that climate change is already taking a heavy toll, and things will only get worse. Global warming has worsened heat waves and wildfires, it claims. And we’ll be seeing more hurricanes and floods, too.
But last year’s National Climate Assessment on extreme weather tells a different story. As University of Colorado Boulder professor Roger Pielke Jr. pointed out in a Twitter thread in August 2017, there were no increases in drought, no increases in frequency or magnitude of floods, no trends in frequency or intensity of hurricanes, and “low confidence for a detectable human climate change contribution in the Western United States based on existing studies.”
It’s hard to imagine all of that could be flipped on its head in a matter of a year.
This year’s report stresses that it “was created to inform policy-makers and makes no specific recommendations on how to remedy the problem.” Yet the takeaway was clear: The cost of inaction is bound to dwarf the cost of any carbon-reduction proposal out there.
The reality, however, is that all of the currently favored proposals for combatting climate change carry significant costs and (here’s the even more important part) would do nothing to mitigate warming, even if there were a looming catastrophe like the National Climate Assessment imagines.
Just last month, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change proposed a carbon tax of between $135 and $5,500 by the year 2030. An energy tax of that magnitude would bankrupt families and businesses and undoubtedly catapult the world into economic despair.
These policies would simply divert resources away from more valuable use, such as investing in more robust infrastructure to protect against natural disasters or investing in new technologies that make Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5 even more of an afterthought than it already should be.
It’s human nature to ponder what-ifs and worse-case scenarios. Every time I board a flight, I think about the plane going down. But I know the statistical likelihood of that happening is near nil. And I certainly don’t go around spreading misinformation about how unsafe planes are.
Climate alarmists, however, see things differently. They want the world to share their concerns and seem willing to say “whatever it takes” to get people on board. But propagating improbabilities isn’t science. It’s irresponsible and does a disservice to the climate discussion broadly.

“The Stunning Statistical Fraud Behind The Global Warming Scare”
Global Warming: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration may have a boring name, but it has a very important job: It measures U.S. temperatures. Unfortunately, it seems to be a captive of the global warming religion. Its data are fraudulent.
What do we mean by fraudulent? How about this: NOAA has made repeated “adjustments” to its data, for the presumed scientific reason of making the data sets more accurate.
Nothing wrong with that. Except, all their changes point to one thing — lowering previously measured temperatures to show cooler weather in the past, and raising more recent temperatures to show warming in the recent present.
This creates a data illusion of ever-rising temperatures to match the increase in CO2 in the Earth’s atmosphere since the mid-1800s, which global warming advocates say is a cause-and-effect relationship. The more CO2, the more warming.

But the actual measured temperature record shows something different: There have been hot years and hot decades since the turn of the last century, and colder years and colder decades. But the overall measured temperature shows no clear trend over the last century, at least not one that suggests runaway warming.
That is, until the NOAA’s statisticians “adjust” the data. Using complex statistical models, they change the data to reflect not reality, but their underlying theories of global warming. That’s clear from a simple fact of statistics: Data generate random errors, which cancel out over time. So by averaging data, the errors mostly disappear.
That’s not what NOAA does.
According to the NOAA, the errors aren’t random. They’re systematic. As we noted, all of their temperature adjustments lean cooler in the distant past, and warmer in the more recent past. But they’re very fuzzy about why this should be.
Far from legitimately “adjusting” anything, it appears they are cooking the data to show a politically correct trend toward global warming. Not by coincidence, that has been part and parcel of the government’s underlying policies for the better part of two decades.
What NOAA does aren’t niggling little changes, either.
As Tony Heller at the Real Climate Science web site notes, “Pre-2000 temperatures are progressively cooled, and post-2000 temperatures are warmed. This year has been a particularly spectacular episode of data tampering by NOAA, as they introduce nearly 2.5 degrees of fake warming since 1895.”
So the global warming scare is basically a hoax.
This winter, for instance, as measured by temperature in city after city and by snow-storm severity, has been one of the coldest on record in the Northeast.
But after the NOAA’s wizards finished with the data, it was merely about average.
Climate analyst Paul Homewood notes for instance that in New York state, measured temperatures this year were 2.7 degrees or more colder than in 1943. Not to NOAA. Its data show temperatures this year as 0.9 degrees cooler than the actual data in 1943.
Erasing Winter
By the way, a similar result occurred after the brutally cold 2013-2014 winter in New York. It was simply adjusted away. Do this year after year, and with the goal of radically altering the temperature record to fit the global warming narrative, and you have what amounts to climate fraud.
“Clearly NOAA’s highly homogenized and adjusted version of the Central Lakes temperature record bears no resemblance at all the the actual station data,” writes Homewood. “And if this one division is so badly in error, what confidence can there be that the rest of the U.S. is any better?”
That’s the big question. And for those who think that government officials don’t have political, cultural or other agendas, that’s naivete of the highest sort. They do.
Since the official government mantra for all of the bureaucracies at least since the Clinton era is that CO2 production is an evil that inevitably leads to runaway global warming, those who toil in the bureaucracies’ statistical sweat shops know that their careers and future funding depend on having the politically correct answers — not the scientifically correct ones.
“The key point here is that while NOAA frequently makes these adjustments to the raw data, it has never offered a convincing explanation as to why they are necessary,” wrote James Delingpole recently in Breitbart’s Big Government. “Nor yet, how exactly their adjusted data provides a more accurate version of the truth than the original data.”
There are at least some signs of progress, however. In the case of the Environmental Protection Agency, future reports and studies will include the data and the underlying scientific assumptions for public scrutiny.
That’s one way to bring greater honesty to government — and to keep climate charlatans from bankrupting our nation with spurious demands for carbon taxes and deindustrialization of our economy to prevent global warming. The only real result won’t be a cooler planet, but rather mass poverty and lower standards of living for all.

“No, Global Warming Isn’t Killing Off The Polar Bears”

Climate Change: It’s a heart-rending video: The National Geographic tape shows a plainly starving, shockingly thin polar bear rummaging for food. It’s near death. The tragic scene went viral on the internet.
“When scientists say bears are going extinct, I want people to realize what it looks like,” said SeaLegacy photographer Paul Nicklen, whose video of the bear was later shared online by National Geographic.

And, of course, the media wasted no time in fixing blame: global warming.
The New York Times came right out and said it: “Experts and environmentalists say the broad answer — however controversial and nuanced it may be — is to reduce the present levels of global greenhouse gas emissions in order to curb global warming. In January, federal wildlife officials issued a report that called climate change the biggest threat to the survival of the polar bear.”
Not to be outdone, Britain’s leftist The Guardian newspaper laid it on thick: “Video footage captured in Canada’s Arctic has offered a devastating look at the impact climate change is having on polar bears in the region, showing an emaciated bear clinging to life as it scrounged for food on iceless land.”
Cristina Mittermeier, co-founder of SeaLegacy, the group that actually shot the footage of the starving bear, called the video the “face of climate change” in an Instagram post.
Unfortunately, the global warming guilt-mongering by the media and their allies in the green movement is almost entirely false.
Both the media accounts above and several others noted the lack of ice. But the area in question where the polar bear was wandering lacks ice every year at that time. They call it “summer.” So the lack of ice proves nothing, other than the utter tendentiousness of what passes today for environmental reporting.
The fact is, polar bears get diseases like parasites and cancer just like any other animal — or humans, for that matter. The bear in question is plainly starving, but it’s not clear why.
It’s important to note, however, that starvation is a leading cause of death among polar bears, especially the old and the young. Though they have no real predatory enemies, they can be outfought for food by bigger, more robust bears.
Even the National Geographic, which put out the video, was somewhat circumspect in its conclusion about the bear, noting, “As a whole, polar bear populations around the world are not in immediate peril.”
Nor are polar bears in peril where the starving bear was filmed, on Baffin Island.
As the Canadian Post noted, “According to data collected by the federal government, polar bears along the entire west coast of Baffin Island are ‘stable.’ On the southeastern side of the island (around the Nunavut capital of Iqaluit) polar bears have even experienced a ‘likely increase.’ It’s only on the island’s northeastern corner — in a management area that meets Greenland — that polar bears are suspected to be in decline.”
This is not science, nor is it documenting the “effects” of climate change as some would have it. It’s mere green propaganda.
“One starving bear is not evidence of climate change, despite gruesome photos,” wrote Susan Crockford, a zoologist, on her website “Polar Bear Science.”
It should be noted that in other countries with significant polar bear populations, including Norway and Russia, polar bear populations are increasing. On Norway’s Svalbard Island, for instance, the Norwegian Polar Institute reported a 42% increase from 2004 to 2015. Russia also reports increases.
A far cry from mass starvation of polar bears due to global warming.
This is an old trick of the environmentalists, who long ago discovered that people care a lot about so-called “charismatic mega-fauna” like whales, polar bears, lions and the like. So as soon as they get their hands on a heartbreaking video like this one, they exploit it to its maximum potential.
Like everyone else, we felt sympathy for the stricken bear. But it’s both dishonest and wrong to exploit a dying animal for your political cause — especially one that would involve a massive change in the global economy, increased poverty and thousands of human deaths just to reduce the Earth’s temperature by a few thousandths of a degree.

“Is Global Warming A Hoax? Discover The Climate Change Facts And Fiction”
While many people in the media and scientific community claim the climate change science is settled, do the facts back that up? Derisively called “deniers,” climate change skeptics continue to challenge the so-called conventional wisdom, asking “Is global warming a hoax? Is man-made global warming the dire threat environmentalists claim?”
Recent global warming agreements brokered by the U.N. seek steep reductions in world C02 output to slow the presumed warming of the earth’s atmosphere, while also seeking alterations in the economy that would move energy sources away from fossil fuels toward renewable natural energy.
But a growing contingent of scientists and economists call into question the climate change dogma, saying that the temperature data show no clear recent warming and noting that the benefits of global warming, if it existed, might be greater than the costs. This split will define the political debate in the near term.
Former president Barack Obama and most of the Democratic Party signed on eagerly to the U.N. agenda, which entails major reductions in the size of the U.S. economy.
President Donald Trump, by naming a Cabinet filled with energy executives and global warming skeptics, has made his policy far more friendly toward conventional fossil fuels than Obama’s was.

“Global Warming Scare Tactics Will Bankrupt America”
If Winston Churchill was alive today he would caution the youth of Morrow County planning a climate strike, “The farther backward you look, the farther forward you see.”
In 1975 the national press and media were issuing dire warnings that fossil fuels and capitalism were causing catastrophic damage to the environment. Newsweek proposed a solution in the April 28, 1975, edition that included outlawing fossil fuel engines to save the planet from the coming ice age.
Fast forward 25 years to the dawn of the 21st century and Al Gore’s “An inconvenient Truth” provided graphic images of apocalyptic consequences if fossil fuels were allowed to continue warming the planet. The national press and media and school curriculum deluged our youth with pictures of “global warming” — melting glaciers, dying polar bears, coastal cities inundated by massive floods, cities wiped out by hurricanes and tornadoes, and food supplies exterminated by drought.
“Global cooling” and “global warming” have lost their luster so the new mantra of “climate change” has frightened the present generation of our youth to take action against the catastrophic consequences carbon dioxide emissions and fossil fuels. The New Green Deal proposed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would replace fossil fuels with “renewable energy” to save America from the approaching climate catastrophe.
The cost of this socialist Marxist social engineering proposal to save America from fossil fuels and CO2 emissions: $66 to $100 trillion over ten years, or $350,000 to $650,000 per family. Print more money, raise higher taxes, get rid of the Constitution and everything else that restricts the federal government from controlling Americans from birth to the grave under the guise of saving the planet.
Here are the facts young citizens of Morrow County preparing to “Fight for our future” May 24, 2019: The U.S.A. could cut carbon dioxide emissions by 100% and it would have no impact on “global cooling,” “global warming,” or “global climate change.” What will impact your lives is the $20-plus trillion dollar U.S.A. debt plus the accruing interest your generation will required to pay. This debt could well devastate your future and end your hope for the lifestyle you now enjoy.
I exhort the youth of Morrow County to study history; do not be manipulated by Democrat socialist scare tactics and indoctrination that will bankrupt America, destroy your future, and have zero impact on saving the planet.

“If I Were The Devil”
Many years ago, a courageous and devoted American broadcast a message to his listeners that served as a harbinger for where the nation was headed societally and culturally. In his broadcast he revealed what he would do if he were “the devil,” to destroy our culture and undermine our collective societal standards and social mores. That man was Paul Harvey Aurandt, affectionately known to the nation simply as Paul Harvey, and his message not only has proven to be prophetic, but serves as a warning to Americans today of where our society continues to trend.
Paul Harvey was a broadcaster who rendered daily news on the radio from the 1950s through the 1990s, and inspired generations of Americans with true stories of goodness and heroism with his daily, “The Rest of the Story.” He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005 for his contributions to the nation. At his peak, his broadcasts reached as many as 24 million listeners and readers, as 1,600 radio stations and 300 newspapers carried his program and columns across the nation.
One broadcast, which he titled, “If I Were the Devil,” ran originally in 1964, but he updated it several times over the years, and the version detailed below aired in 1996. In Paul Harvey’s own words, here is what he said he would do, if he “were the devil.”
“If I were the prince of darkness, I would want to engulf the whole world in darkness. I’d have a third of its real estate and four-fifths of its population, but I would not be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree — thee. So, I would set about however necessary to take over the United States.
“I’d subvert the churches first, and I would begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: ‘Do as you please.’
“To the young, I would whisper that the Bible is a myth. I would convince the children that man created God instead of the other way around. I’d confide that what’s bad is good and what’s good is square. And the old, I would teach to pray after me, ‘Our Father, which art in Washington …’
“Then, I’d get organized, I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I’d peddle narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.
“If I were the devil, I’d soon have families at war with themselves, churches at war with themselves and nations at war with themselves until each, in its turn, was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings, I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flames.
“If I were the devil, I would encourage schools to refine young intellect but neglect to discipline emotions. I’d tell teachers to let those students run wild. And before you knew it, you’d have drug-sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door. With a decade, I’d have prisons overflowing and judges promoting pornography. Soon, I would evict God from the courthouse and the schoolhouse and then from the houses of Congress. In his own churches, I would substitute psychology for religion and deify science. I’d lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls and church money.
“If I were the devil, I’d take from those who have and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. What’ll you bet I couldn’t get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich?
“I’d convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging is more fun and that what you see on television is the way to be. And thus, I could undress you in public and lure you into bed with diseases for which there are no cures.
“In other words, if I were the devil, I’d just keep right on doing what he’s doing.”
Everything Harvey saw as nascent trends back in the 60’s has come to fruition. And realizing that many readers may not believe in the devil, per se, doesn’t change the fact that these portents have achieved fruition. Whether the causality is the adversary, other nefarious evil or injurious sources, or merely the result of wanton and hedonistic human nature, the culmination of these destructive trends in society has ripened dramatically in recent years.
Some benighted souls may interpret the dissolution of our most fundamental institutions, the defloration of our cultural mores, the rejection and denunciation of God, and the abandonment of standards of decency as “progress.” But to any with even a modicum of conscience, ethical grounding, or even objectivity in assessing our social viability from a historical perspective, we’ve not evolved as a society; we’ve devolved. Not unlike previous great cultures before us.
As intellectual historian Gertrude Himmelfarb has summarized, “What was once stigmatized as deviant behavior is now tolerated and even sanctioned; what was once regarded as abnormal has been normalized . … As deviancy is normalized, so what was once normal becomes deviant. The kind of family that has been regarded for centuries as natural and moral – the ‘bourgeois’ family as it is invidiously called – is now seen as pathological.”
Alas, where do we go from here? Do we continue to plunge to new depths of degeneracy as a society, or do we rise as a phoenix, reversing our downward spiral to nihilism? The answer lies in each of us, individually and collectively, and whether we, by honest introspection and appraisal, acknowledge our own failures and shortcomings, and determine to do better.
